I noticed in an old recording that players used to be allowed to change the time server-side.
When did this behavior change and why? Is there a reason we still shouldn't allow it?

i swear if i see another fucking thread starting with the word "regarding" im going to cave someones fucking head in.
but do you mean like normal players changing time around, if so i'd imagine that would be a bit chaotic if two were to fight over the time.
They haven't been able to since 2013 or so. It used to cause carnage and lag like shit because everyone changed it then others changed it to something else and it was just a fight over what time the world should be. Was not fun.
@wild1145#8528 Would another option be viable where the players could choose what the server-side time should be across the whole server while also mitigating this problem (e.g. a poll every hour)?
keep it as is, /ptime works well and theres literally no point in changing the time for everyone. At most it could be a guild feature, but should always be able to be overwritten by /ptime
@SupItsDillon#8534 Player-side times don't affect daylight sensors. Even if it appears to be night, the sensors remain on.
Honestly I think it would be epic if we just enabled the day and night cycle.
@videogamesm12#8535 then surely that’s the issue and should be resolved
@SupItsDillon#8538 How would you go about doing that for something that only affects what a player sees?
Wild is correct, it was blocked in 2013:

As for solving the problem, I suggest simply enabling the daylight cycle and keeping it enabled. It doesn't cause any lag, and if a player doesn't like nighttime, they can use /ptime.
