Hello. I’m not really sure if there’s anybody who cares or if anybody really wants to know what’s been going on with me ever since I left last year, but regardless, I feel like giving an update since I’ve been mostly quiet since I left.

The entire early 2020-mid 2021 period during Covid where I could be found online pretty much 24/7 was a really rough time in my life, and in the real world I had just about no friends and I was rather depressed. Don’t know if that was everyone or just me in covid times; but long story short my entire life and creativity was poured into my projects on TF.

I left last summer due to the fact I realised that I needed a life. Just looking at some of the stuff I built last year, I really needed to touch grass.

So I thought I’d give an update on what I’ve done ever since then.

    • Last summer not long after I left I joined my schools cross country team and got myself into the best shape of my life after doing basically no exercise for 2 years, and I’m now very healthy and preparing to do more sports in the coming year.

    • I’ve gotten really into hiking ever since I went on my big Appalachian hike last June and I have hiked 8 mountains across Virginia over the last year. I love nature and the outdoors in general.

    • I joined my school’s musical and was an actor; we had our performances last month and being in that group was legitimately one of the greatest experiences of my life. I have made many new friends and have discovered more about myself.

    • Over the last year since I left I have been writing a book, and just 2 weeks ago I officially became a published author, and I am now happily selling my work to people around my town who want a copy.

    • I’ve completely rebuilt my social circle and made, not even exaggerating, probably 20 new really good friends over the last year who’ve supported me through everything.

    • I’ve completely rebuilt my social life and I now frequently go to events and go out with friends to gatherings of all kinds. A year ago I did pretty much nothing, so this is one of the best improvements for me.

    • I got a girlfriend. Yeah. Me, a guy who used to play Minecraft 10 hours a day. It’s been one of the greatest things to have happened to me in my life and I’m now in place I never could’ve imagined a year ago I would be in.

Overall, leaving TF was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and my life has gotten 1000x better ever since. I think a year ago I said that I might be back in a year but honestly I likely will never be returning, and if I ever do it will not be ANYWHERE near the level I was playing a year ago.

I would recommend to anyone and everyone who finds themselves in the position I was in, touch grass, it’s really worth it and stuff gets better. Life will improve if you put in the effort, and don’t ever give up when times are tough. 🙂

I don’t normally get myself involved in issues here anymore, but I gotta say, I always disliked the hub and would agree in saying that it should be removed.

The hub, in my personal view as a player since 2013, made TF lose a bit of its classic feel of a simple server that with a quick tap you could hop on and enjoy, to just another corporatised, low-effort, generic server. I would say that it’s probably given a lot of new players bad impressions and turned many away because of the lack of anything special with the hub; just another copy and paste cookie cutter commissioned build. And with a server with barely any active playerbase, there’s no real logical reason to have it.

The emptiness of the hub makes the emptiness of the main server feel even bigger, and as previously stated, it feels like a failing illusion that the server is a big network, when in reality it’s not.

what i said is pretty unrelated to the rest of what i see here, but regardless, that’s what i got

    Vouch

In summer 2013 I was at a sleepover at my friends house and he showed me TF for the first time I think.

ever since then i played on and off, every couple months remembering the ip of the server and joining, getting addicted for a year or so and then taking a break.

Here’s my problem with stuff like this

Is this a cool idea? Absolutely, but it’s not TF in my opinion. The appeal of this server is in the freedom game mode, having operator status and being able to do what you want with few limitations. The uniqueness of this server is what’s kept it alive for a decade.

Anyone can make a fun little earth smp,

I could open that myself without putting in too much work, but it wouldn’t be unique or at all special.

It would likely just die after a week or so as other people are saying just because I doubt that after everyone is established on the smp there would be much to do, and I doubt it would appeal to any new players as they could go to a lot of places elsewhere and get the same game mode but with more players and more unique features and better moderation etc.

Not a bad idea, but just in my view does not work on this server.

I just briefly talked in the discord and heard about this situation and I can’t stop myself from giving a piece of my mind on this, I gotta say, I think this is ridiculous.

Part of the reason i personally left the server back in July was because of stuff like this, taking Minecraft so seriously to the point you want someone to give an ID just to join a discord server.

Just like…. does this really matter?

Are we gonna go asking every single person for real-world-identification?

Is this really a good thing to do on a server that wants to grow as a community?

    Cmon y’all

    do better

riawo also i swear the only reason imperium exists is because tails was in enders and he didn’t like the futuristic style, i don’t remember much but imperium used to be called Elders.

Pretty accurate, story is basically I was in the enders and then one day i went out to an island nearby the enders base and built myself a little cozy house in medieval style, kinda so i could be close to the enders but not participate in the style.

Then slowly i built more and more little medieval stuff until i finally got the courage to start my own guild, and then yeah, it worked out pretty well.

(also the elders was a different unrelated guild that used to live next to the imperium, and they eventually fell inactive and all their members joined us so we just kinda like took over all their territory)

    so yeah
