I managed to get a 512 GB Steam Deck reserved within about 10 to 15 minutes of the launch. I am planning on using it for a few things, mostly light gaming but also I'm just curious about testing the APU in it.

that is quite boss like, i kinda want one tbf. would be good in the car on the occasion my mum wants to stop at fucking aldi
have no clue what i'd actually play on it though besides minecraft and cod zobies but from what i've seen its fairly powerful. and $399 for the base model seems reletively cheap too although i think i would have to extend that with an SD card probably as 64GB not very large

It is very cheap, existing devices in this form factor cost twice as much. Be aware of the trade-off between the internal storage and the microSD card slot: it's similar to SSD vs. HDD.

↩ StevenNL2000 thats probably what im most worried about if i do decide to go through with it. the last time i underestimated the inpact of a hard drive it still doesn't end well

I must say I am quite tempted, though personally I've no idea if / when I'd actually even use it. Especially given I lug a laptop around with me when I'm out of the house anyway.

↩ StevenNL2000 I haven't read up any of the specs but if I had to guess, corners were cut to reach this price, and I'd think this would include the storage being embedded into the motherboard.

↩ Folfy_Blue Then I suggest reading up on the specs before guessing:

↩ StevenNL2000 For that price point I must say that I am very surprised that the storage is socketed

Adding on to that, it has a 7 inch 16:10 1280x800px touch screen, Bluetooth 5.0, no Wifi 6 surprisingly for a device that's portative launched in this year, but that's honestly fine, it even has a gyroscope and haptic feedback along with four extra mappable buttons for the controller part of the machine, and I'm surprised they went on with a full 16GB of RAM, this thing seems really powerful for it's price point, I'm honestly impressed

↩ Folfy_Blue What makes it even better is no locked bootloader, or OS. Valve has made it very clear that end users are free to install whatever they want on them. The whole device is just freedom in a handheld.
