I recently learned about China's social credit system. If you act in a way that is considered a "untrustworthy", you are essentially punished by being denied certain services, having your personal information publicized, having your internet connection intentionally slowed down, losing the ability to even get a job, and more. If you act in a way that is considered "trustworthy", however, you are awarded with things like discounts, faster medical treatment, and more.
Quite frankly, this is utterly terrifying. This is the kind of shit I would see in dystopian-themed books or movies, not real life. Imagine unintentionally running past a red light and then getting screwed over because of a simple mistake. Imagine saying something the government doesn't like and then having your social credit absolutely fucked over. Imagine saying something you didn't realize could be taken in a certain way and then having your personal information publicized. Stuff like this is a reason why I'm grateful to be living in the west, and not in that shitshow of a country.
