We at the creative team is proud to announce our upcoming project: The TotalFreedom 2023 Summer Spawn!

The spawn, of course, will be themed around summer, and all the joyous things that comes along with summer. The ocean breeze, the warm sunshine, and all the pretty things! But it's unfair to only let us Master Builders have the fun, no? That's why we're introducing this community contribution event as a part of this summer spawn project!

The spirit of the event is to encourage builders and creative minds around the server to contribute whatever they can and whatever they want to add to the spawn. Whether that is ideas that we can make happen for you, or the builds themselves that you want to be included, we would love nothing more than your contribution to make this spawn truly TotalFreedom!

To spice things up, we will be handing out rewards based on your contributions - if you got to take part on the project, not only will you have the fun of creativity, you'll also get our rewards! So what's not to love about this?

The details of the event are as follows:

• Submissions can be made from the time that this thread is made until June 24th 23:59 GMT+0.
• Each player can contribute one item: a conceptual idea or a build schematic.
• Submissions can be made here on the thread or via DMs to me or ClayCoconut on Discord (Feueristic#7035 / ClayCoconut#2860), as well as in-game mail (/mail) to me (Feueristic).
• Conceptual ideas have no limit, as long as they revolve around the theme of summer and suits the general build picture well.
• Build schematics dimensions must be under the size of 15*25*15 (x*y*z), and the submitter must label clearly the name that the schematic is saved under. (If you are not sure about how to work with schematics, you may ask other players/admins to help you.)
• Screenshots of your build should be attached to the submission, though it is not required.
• Build submissions will be prioritized over idea submissions.
• In case you made two or more submissions, we will approach you to choose your entry, and if you cannot choose we will pick for you.
• The creative team reserves the right to choose final entries to include and no guarentees are to be made that every submission can be included in the final build. (But we'll try our best!! )

While I feel like this is a cool idea, from what I've seen with people doing the "jape" with the dot-edit, I only see the use of this function in two places:

1. To circumvent large walls of text from flooding the in-game chat;
2. To chat without sending the message to in-game chat because someone in-game should not hear about what you are saying.

The simpler of the two would be the 2nd use, since it is not the server's responsibility to allow you to talk behind someone's back. If you have a problem with that person, I recommend you go directly towards the person with your issue, or resolve this in your DMs/GCs.

For the first one, I believe Paldiu has been working on a new Discord bridge alongside the new permission-node-enabled TFM. I suppose with this we should be able to customize it so that it will cut off long messages so that people does not need to do the "jape tactic".

While the exact execution and the cut-off in an ideal scenario would be decided by the community and Paul, I believe that this is a good enough solution to the existing problem.

One last note that no matter what we "fix", the "jank" is still going to always exist because I don't believe it's feasible to re-send every discord chat message that was ever edited, nor is there any good real-time way to tell in-game chat that a Discord message was edited. I would rather we address the underlying motives of using this unintended feature (or, more commonly put, a bug) instead of "streamlining" it with another intended feature.

With that said, please let everyone know if there is anything missing that people occasionally use the dot-edit technique with, so the community can address it and talk about it as well.

wow nobody wanted to draw logos for TF huh

While I would have loved to participate this with my own completed work, I have found myself buried under a lot of university tasks in projects and exams as well as personal circumstances such that I could not have completed my work on the logo as a whole submission. However, I do think that my ideas hold their own weight and I would love to see how the community would like to go off of my work! (While I understand that "do not use other's work" is on the post, I feel like that just means to not plagiarise - I'm giving full creative freedom to whoever would like to pick up where I left off so it doesn't count)

Without any further ado, here are some conceptual work that I did:

This would be the main square TF logo. Yes, merging the two letters together, very original of me, but if you can pay attention to the red outlines of the character and the yellow outlines of the character, they individually also make up "TF".

I have recreated this with SVG format (although you could probably recreate it yourself in 10 minutes if you have the know-how) and if you would like to have it you can approach me on Discord (Feueristic#7035).

As an additional idea that I've tried:

I've tried to recreate a phoenix-like creature which itself contains the main logo that I made above. Obviously it needs a bit more refinement but I think it is very much doable and would create a unique aesthetic for the logo. The rest is pretty self-explanatory, although please note that I hand-drew this so there's no vector graphics to go off of nor a name of the font that I used (because, y'know, I made it up) and I'm sure for whoever that's taking my place with my ideas will have better luck and knowledge to fonts as well as to actually make it in a scalable format. Also note that this was meant to be the full rectangular banner, but this is the one that I have saved and I am too lazy to actually rearrange it myself.

Obviously, in a full design, the background would not be completely white-out - that's partly by my laziness and partly by my incompetence to draw backgrounds. I'm sure someone can come up with something, though.

Again, would love to see how everyone think of these ideas and how people think they could expand upon these very rudimentary conceptual sketches. Even if you hate them, that's totally okay! But by all means please speak out about what parts of the design irks you the wrong way so we actually have things to work off of. In these community-representing designs, the input of the community is essential to make the design actually represent the community.

From what I can see, if we were to integrate any form of additional communication channel, it would only be a matter of time until we ask for it to be integrated with the Minecraft server, or any other implemented community platforms including Discord. Not only is this added development and moderation work, it is also redundant when we (the vast majority of players) already has Discord itself to work with. I really don't think we need to divert our attention even more than we already have.

However, I don't think there is a restriction to starting your own set of community associated with TF on whatever platform you choose (just not officially under TF), which means that you are free to make whatever platform you wish and invite players there (again, just not officially). If you feel like this suggestion holds weight and there are other benefits that you have to demonstrate to prove your point, I, for one, welcome you to set up your own platform to convince us.

For once, I am truly terrified at the potential destruction that this individual may cause. Such power courses through their words and this is only a beginning. This is unstoppable. I can only imagine what horrors they may unleash in the future if this is only the tip of the iceberg of their power. Even the most powerful forces in the world may not be able to contain them if they reach their full potential. Please, everyone, Josh Monaghan is not someone to mess with. It is truly unthinkable what the future of the server will be if this individual's demands are not meet. I cannot emphasize this enough that we need to put the server's safety as the utmost priority at all cost and we will have no choice but to comply with this individual's demands. I truly believe that we need to put down our pride as a community to ensure that this community can even remain on the internet. This is not a joke. Throughout so many years that the TotalFreedom Minecraft community has been online, we have received uncountable attacks, in various different forms in ones that you can imagine and even ones that you cannot imagine. If this individual has even a piece of the TotalFreedom community's past, it is unthinkable as to what degree of destruction they may cause. I am certain that whoever has even touched the topic of the community's past, they would understand the amount of corruption that was running among the server, and that is no joking matter. It is very possible that this individual has taken an offense to how the server operated and taken it personally and now they are willing to go through extensive lengths to ensure that their voice is heard. Needless to say, the consequences of this is completely unthinkable with regards to what potential destructions that this individual can cause. I am of a genuine believe that this forum post is only the very beginning of what is yet to come in the near future. I have to extend this fact once again, that because of how this individual claims to be a previous TotalFreedom Minecraft player, it is entirely within the realms of possibility that some developer-only tools are available to them in some unknown circumstances. This is very obviously bad because they are basically holding the server hostage for us to meet their demands. In order to preserve the long history that the TF community has, there is only one solution to this scenario. It is both the easiest choice to make but the hardest path to walk. I know this is terrifying as a community and that we have never let down our pride as server users, but this situation is different that everything that came before this. We will have to treat this individual with the utmost care to ensure the safety of the server, the community, and by extension all of the users that are enjoying or has even some form of contact regarding this server. I am truly terrified at the potential destruction that this individual may cause. I completely trust that this individual has the full power to completely demolish the server at will, but is only choosing to not do so because they want to give us one very last chance for us to meet their demands right now. This is the only chance we will get of saving this entire community, and the fate of the world will rest on our collective decision to only comply with this individual in question. Is it really a decision? Nay... It is only of a matter of time when we will finally agree with them, whether we will have the community intact if we were to be able to save the situation early, or we will have the community in absolute shambles, crumbling and fractured, with a trail of destruction left behind by this singular person. For this, I once again beg for everyone's serious sympathy on this matter at hand. This is of the utmost emergencies right now. I am of the firm believe that we have reached a true singularity point of no return, where our collective awareness of this situation will determine the eternal fate of the community from this point onwards. For once, in the TotalFreedom server's history, may we make such an impactful choice as to whether or not the server will remain on the global internet. We will need to have to do whatever it takes possible to uphold the stability of the community because without the existence of the bonds that we have made on this server, we have nothing valuable that remains on this community anymore. For once, that ever since we have awoken, we will learn a tough lesson, that sometimes we will need to swallow our pride, in order to simply sustain ourselves, to see the light at the end of the tunnel, that one day we will finally cross this shroud that this individual has cast upon us. We will have to learn this lesson - No, we have always have had opportunities to learn this exact thing. We have had countless experiences similar to this, and every time we have dissolved it, our arrogance only grew, the vanity that we could always protect this community no matter the cost grows stronger within all of our hearts, but this time it is different. It is different because this individual has promised that they can and will leave nothing but destruction in their paths. To whoever that may come across them, they wish only the best of mercy from the bright light above beyond the firmament, because what ever they will be feeling following the swift strike of the axe that is whatever this individual is capable of, we will have nothing but death knocking on all of our doors, telling us that there shall be no escape but to face this absolute torment. I can only extend my wishes to everyone so far, but this community will have to reach out to this as well, to pull ourselves together, tighter knit that it has ever before, to face this one single common enemy, to put all of our differences aside and collectively defend ourselves against one of the biggest threats that we have possibly faced ever in the history that this community has ever witnessed. It is almost fascinating how I am alive to witness such event happening right before me, but at the same time, I cannot help but weep - weep at how the situation has came to be, that this could have been entirely avoided, but is nevertheless the fate of us. So please, if my voice has reached out to you, beyond the boundaries of what is possible, won't you also extend your hand? To save this server, for once, for all? Please. Meet their demands. I considered that because a vast majority of posters here already objects your application, I wouldn't really need to write anything more to salt the wound. But, as someone who sort-of cares, I feel the need to add my own opinion and nuance to the pile of opinions already available against the applicant.

The fact of the matter is, I think Aero would be a generally nice person to interact with. This is not a joke. I think in most cases, Aero tries to be friendly towards anyone who they do not know - new players, returning admins, all the same. I think Aero definitely has familiarity with how the server works and how administration is carried out (not that it's that hard to understand anyway but) which is a great advantage for them. I would be lying if I didn't say I almost wanted to support this application.

And don't get me wrong, Video raises some good points regarding mental wellbeing. But I just think there's more to the point than "you're on the server too much". If people like Video, Lyicx, or hell, even me, is allowed our amounts of raw dedication on the server, why is it different for Aero? I don't think a fair argument exists for this point. However, in a sense, I believe that Aero's activity is not the defining reason as to why Aero is unsuited to be an Admin - rather, a multiplier of sorts that amplifies the pre-existing unwanted characteristics that we see.

For the weeks that this application was here, I've been reluctant to give my opinion on Aero, but I believe through some insight I find this reluctance to be exactly the reason why:

You take a lot of situations way too personally, and with it you become aggressively defensive. In addition, a sense of general immaturity (not letting jokes go, "loud equals funny", etc.) makes me feel that at times you tend to be quite awkward to interact with.

There is a lot of small situations that I witnessed so forgive me not being able to exhaustively list them out as a citation source, but from what I can see this seems to be generally true for occasions where things can go out of hand. I feel like for a lot of other times when you are interacting with other active OPs that know you well, you are able to hold conversations quite well; but when it comes to people that doesn't understand you as well or whoever that has slightly wronged you, I find things turn sour very quickly with no real reason. I'm sure some other OPs or admins who has observed Aero can also agree to this sentiment.

This was where my reluctance is sourced as well - that you would be quite confrontational regarding my personal opinions to you being unfit to be an admin; That you would take this opinion that is meant to try and hopefully provide you with a path of improvement, and turn it into a personal attack against your character. Of course, I cannot base my opinion on something that didn't even happen, but from my previous experience talking to you or seeing you getting into heated situations, I wager that this is not an unrealistic expectation.

Are you a reputable member of the community? Sure - some may disagree with me but I think a lot of OPs and admins alike can agree that you have at least left a sizeable footprint (or whatever snakes leave) on the server. Are you capable of great things? Absolutely - I think I do see the dedication in you. But, are you ready right now? No, sadly I don't think so. You may still have quite a bit to walk, but I think you would be on the right track if you've at least read it this far (assuming you didn't just skim to here).

I hope you at least took some away from this post, either just as yet another objection to your goofy admin application, or, hopefully, a heartfelt message from some random internet stranger that cares about you as a person.

At first I wanted to object based on the quality of the builds presented here... but after browsing through the older MB applications, it's not like we really require the highest kind of standards around here so, I'll let that slide.

Eva's builds definitely has potential - but what frustrates me is that they remain as potential. I've been active throughout your entire journey to apply for MB from start to finish, and I can definitely say that you have rushed the process a little bit. This is not inherently bad, but I am extremely certain that if you've had more time to experiment and refine what you want, this app would have a whole lot more confidence.

I feel like bowie's comments has spoken enough for me, so I'll spare you the repeated criticism. However, I do think you are very close! Combined with your enthusiasm of building and willingness to improve I believe you can absolutely top these builds yourself within a couple more days of effort.

I know this is an extremely memed-after opinion of mine (and I am personally very aware of this), but I do genuinely hold this belief:

Do not randomize.

Yes, I am serious.

No, this is not a complete ban on randomizing textures - it often is helpful in creating variations of a same color and prevents from something looking too flat and boring. But when people make such pretty builds with unique structural ideas and awesome arrangements of components, just why would you randomize? You have been through fire and flames to get here, and now at the very end you're giving up your entire build's colors. Just... why?

I could continue to complain about how much I hate people who do that, but I believe I can save you some headache by making a few pictures speak the few thousand words for me:

We love our sponge builds. Well, at least I do. And that's good enough for me. Some rough structure ideas, some places where detail goes, looks fine. We'll throw on some color and some details:

Alright, we're getting there. We now have some colors, and I made this a granite wall because who doesn't like some granite castle. Whatever. Now, we can further this build by adding color details by introducing variations of blocks we've used so far, we can mix it in and we get:

We get this????? This???????????????????? This looks like wiping my ass with a cheese grater. This feels like the reason why capital punishment can be justified. This makes me feel a sense of disgust that is only topped by looking at Lyicx's Twitter. And that's a high bar. Before Satan comes back to fix this mistake himself - because if someone unironically does this, then god clearly doesn't exist - Let us correct this:

Am I the absolute pinnacle of Minecraft Building? Well, I am, but for the sake of this post I'll pretend not to be. Even with an imperfect execution, you see how much less messy it made the build? By introducing pure random noise, you create unwanted and unneeded distractions on the build which just does more harm than good. Not to mention the fact that you are spending more time with your build, which just in general means you'll be getting a better result just because you've been staring at it for longer.

Is this an absolute rule? Of course not. When has anything been absolute in life? Building is no different - some rules can be broken, if you are good enough to be better than the rule. If the blocks are close enough in color, if the intended viewing distance is far enough, if the stars align for you, of course you can just pull a little lazy one and just do some %block mixes in WorldEdit. But in general, you almost always only get benefits if you introduce at least some sort of pattern through your chaos.

So please, for the sake of all of us - just don't randomize. It's not worth it.
