I think it's quite ironic that people complain about Mojang adding chat reporting even though it's existed on almost every platform that allows chatting since their creation, and no one seems to complain about it. Steam, a platform that lots of people spend hundreds of dollars on, even bans people for harassment, yet no one is going "#savesteam". How come?
this is going to sound really bad out of context but if im on a private server with only people i know and no children i should be able to say whatever i want.
if im gonna spam the n word (which i wouldnt do but if i did) and everyone else on the server is fine with it, its dumb for some universal moderator to come in and say “you cant say that,” thats the job of the server mods, not mojang
i didnt pay $30 to have minecraft tell me what i can and cant say on a private server. the language used on a server is specific to the culture behind a server and a mojang moderation team will never understand the context behind a reported message
You can turn off chat signatures (which are required for reporting to work) using mods
this is like if totalfreedom was hosted on a replit, used FAWE & luckperms, had no TFM, no rules, and no custom software (so paper instead of scissors & essentialsx instead of tf-essentialsx). so basically this is kaboom except 2x worse. would not recommend

Context forgery no longer works (e.x. nodusclient/gaslight, video here); as the signature you send chat messages with is now based on the previous chat message. As such, if the real chat message signature is not based on the previous reported chat message (which in context forgery attacks would be malicious), your report will be thrown out and deemed as false.
I doubt I'd get pelted with rocks if someone overheard me tell my best buddy to fuck off as a joke
Saying "fuck off" isn't bannable. Saying the n word, death threats or sexual harassment is. You don't "jokingly" sexually harass people with your best buddy, do you?
The main fear is messages out of context or sarcasm taken seriously.
The previous 5 messages are sent over to Mojang to ensure that this isn't the case, and even if that wasn't the case, spamming the n word isn't exactly "sarcasm"
