I'm not sure I agree with revoking the ability to mess around with NBT. Frankly, I believe this will harm the community more than it will help it because a large portion of this community focuses on the idea of custom or unique items, usually created by messing around with NBT beyond what is normally possibly within the limits of the game.
You see, that's what makes TF so unique though. The unrestricted ability to mess around with items to do things that were never intended by Mojang and would have been blocked by other servers is one of the things that makes TF feel more free than a generic creative server. I don't think it's wise to take away this freedom to push Minecraft to its limits.
TL;DR: If we were to upgrade to 1.19.3 with the current worlds we have now, the size of the worlds would grow to a point where it would be beyond our control due to the differences in how Minecraft stores world data in 1.18+.
"Beyond the allowed scope" is meant for code restriction not the default numbers that minecraft typically allows; there's a limit to the amount of data we can assign especially to numerical objects such as longs and integers. If users make items that then result minecraft exceeding its bounds then it will crash the server. My intention is not to take away the ability to freely modify and manipulate NBT data, but rather prevent things that could crash the server or otherwise impact the performance or experiences of others in a negative way. I completely agree that free expression through NBT manipulation is one of the things that sets TF apart, and I only want to make sure that we can grant these features to our community without risk of exploitation.
yea ok this will 100% have to be in scissors lol

I did forget about that, but in many cases the result has been less about privacy. I used COPPA/MC Reporting as general examples.
i can't find myself understanding why you would use two barely related things as examples
one is a reporting system for minecraft and the other is a privacy law

if you're updating crap i recommend you just use a cronjob to update it if you really don't like logging in seperately
of course only do this on a stable distribution and not like arch or something

This is a good point, but when is this server consistent?
even if the server isn't the most consistent when it comes to other stuff i still believe it's a good idea to be consistent with this sort of stuff considering the importance of having defined guidelines against this sort of stuff
Likely not the best way to put my response, but still: This is similar thinking to the bullshit that resulted in things like COPPA and Minecraft's Chat Reporting system. "Little Timmy might be accidentally exposed to something, so we must remove all of it from everywhere!".
Yes minors play here. No they should not be intentionally exposed to NSFW. That does not mean there is a need to ban every bit of it from the server entirely, at least not in the name of their protection.
don't have a law degree or anything of the similar but i'm pretty sure COPPA was intended to protect children's privacy and not just "ban all 13+ content from the internet".
the chat system doesn't actively filter out chat messages; that's a separate feature entirely and is only something enabled by default in Realms.
fyi the text filtering config is something completely unrelated to 1.19 (although it seems to have been enabled by default in realms around the same time as 1.19 was released) - it was implemented around 1.16.4 pre release 1, see here for more information (slightly outdated but it still has useful information).
i've flown in random directions on the server and encountered NSFW map art among other things, what's to stop Little Timmy from discovering something like that on his own? i don't think Timmy should be exposed to NSFW on a game with a playerbase of mainly minors, even "unintentionally"...
