This document also only pertains to Stanford communications (i.e. websites and code). This thread portrays it as though it bans the words on campus, when that is not the case.

"Claiming that the EHLI was 'intended as a guide, not a mandate,' to replace racist and harmful terminology used in IT communications, Steve Gallagher, Stanford's chief information officer, acknowledged this past Wednesday that while the 'primary motivation of this initiative was always to promote a more inclusive and welcoming environment where individuals from all backgrounds feel they belong,' it was time to pull back and reconsider.

'The feedback that this work was broadly viewed as counter to inclusivity means we missed the intended mark. It is for this reason that we have taken down the EHLI site,' Gallagher wrote. He added, “The path forward will be determined after reviewing all recent feedback and consulting with university academic and administrative leadership. All efforts will be guided by Stanford’s commitment to academic freedom.”

Anyways, if you wanted to mock the language guide, then why not use the more ridiculous examples such as:
    "American"
    "You guys"
    "Trigger warning" (lol)
    "White paper"

I agree with what they’re pushing here, to be honest. A lot of people use terms that are derogatory to members of society with disabilities, without realising what the words meanings may be. It’s also the same for many ethnic minorities and I think the Latinx example used here portrays that well.

I also have noticed that you’ve only selected some lighter examples and not more crucial ones. It would maybe be better to show the latter as they have highlighted an issue here.

"Surveys of Hispanic and Latino Americans have found that the vast majority prefer other terms such as Hispanic and Latina/Latino to describe themselves, and that only 2–3% use Latinx.[2][3] A 2020 Pew Research Center survey found that roughly three-quarters of U.S. Latinos were not aware of the term Latinx; of those aware of it, 33% (i.e., about 8% of all U.S. Latinos) said it should be used to describe their racial or ethnic group, while 65% said it should not.[4][3]

Critics say the term does not follow traditional grammar, is difficult to pronounce, and is disrespectful toward conventional Spanish;[5] the Royal Spanish Academy style guide does not recognize the suffix -x.[6] Both supporters and opponents have cited linguistic imperialism as a reason for supporting or opposing the use of the term.[5]"

Do the majority of Democratic, black voters support this policy? Or for that matter: do the majority of Democrat-voters support this policy?

my only knowledge on this question comes from a paper i read a while back. it was by john pankow and i’m sure you can find it online somewhere. it claimed that around half of the african americans who participated in a survey wanted to increase affirmative action, and virtually all agreed that it should at least be kept as is. the paper is quite dated but the views expressed contributed to my strong dislike of affirmative action. i’ll try and find it later.

So you extrapolate from a paper involving four black scholars that the majority of African Americans in the US support affirmative action?

Perhaps this is more relevant: https://www.pewresearch.org/fa…-ethnicity-in-admissions/
62% of black people disagree with affirmative action. 20% think it should be a minor factor.

enchy rape apologist culture does not fucking exist. there are maybe 3 people who think rape is fine,

This is thé perfect example of a strawman

enchy the gender pay gap has been debunked hundreds of times since the 1980s

The gender paygap certainly exists. To say it's been "debunked" is misleading.

enchy women can make a false allegation against a man and ruin his life or reputation (amber heard vs johnny depp, brett kavanaugh).

Except I would argue that the allegations against Kavanaugh certainly had merit. And Heard V. Depp showed that - seemingly - false allegations against a man are, to put it lightly: frowned upon. I believe I even argued with you on this matter in another thread.

enchy men commit suicide 4 times as much as women do.

Women are roughly three times more likely to attempt suicide, though men are two to four times more likely to die by suicide. Compared to men, women show higher rates of suicidal thinking, non-fatal suicidal behavior, and suicide attempts.

Nobody is forcing men to take these jobs. Some believe that good pay is worth more risk, or men are just dumb fucks at times.

enchy women have the exact same rights men do. if anything, women have more rights than men. women dont have to enter the draft. women are more likely to win child custody.

enchy you mean ignoring the actual facts of our society and instead using a couple anecdotes to construe all of society.

You've literally just done the same in this exact post:

enchy but here is a story from an actual woman i know: she was 20 and got pregnant on accident. she didnt know what to do, so she went and got an abortion. it is one of her biggest regrets, getting that abortion. there are many stories of actual women like this.

@'Ryan' The reality is we don’t know if the numbers are verified or not or what numbers came from where.

The article literally links to the studies. Yes we know where the numbers come from. I already noted hypocrisy in claiming that Abort73 is "biased" because it has an agenda to ban abortion, when Guttmacher and other sources linked in this thread are literally the exact opposite agenda: pushing reproductive rights for women.

Take your head out of your rear and read his link instead of crying "biased!", and then you'd know that said "biased link" sources its numbers from Guttmacher and the CDC.
Any source will have agendas, but that shouldn't matter as long as their numbers aren't manipulated.

The 0.5 percentage of abortions with rape as the main factor comes from a survey of 1209 women performed by the Guttmacher institute. This is noted on the Abort73 page:

    Quote

In 2004, the Guttmacher Institute anonymously surveyed 1,209 post-abortive women from nine different abortion clinics across the country. Of the women surveyed, 957 provided a main reason for having an abortion. This table lists each reason and the percentage of respondents who chose it.

They also provide another number from Florida only:

    Quote

The state of Florida records a reason for every abortion that occurs within its borders each year. In 2020, there were 74,868 abortions in Florida. This table lists each reason and the percentage of abortions that occurred because of it. [0.15% of the woman were raped]

From a quick Google Search shows that similar numbers can also be found from a USA TODAY article:

    Quote

Just 1% of women obtain an abortion because they became pregnant through rape, and less than 0.5% do so because of incest, according to the Guttmacher Institute. Yet the battle over exceptions for both has garnered outsized attention in the national abortion debate.

Engage in honest conversation instead of merely tossing the entirety of the other party's argument aside because "Bad source!".

enchy The point of the Mueller Probe was to find indications of Russian meddling in the election. Not to "steal" the election from Trump.

I ask again: In what manner will Democrats try to "control" the elections, when they themselves benefit from a higher voter turnout?
