Personally, I didn't suggest we change the role name to make TotalFreedom sound more "professional" or "sanitize" it.
I suggested we change it because it's rude to the people awarded with it.

But, maybe that's just me. As a new player, why would I understand how branding dedicated players as "mentally unstable" is a good and positive thing, instead of a bad and negative thing?

Object, rename to something like "Regulars" instead of the rude other suggestions Noah listed. I really hope Noah isn't attempting to undermine the suggestion by making a self-contradicting/silly version of our suggestion. That would be really immature of him.

What I was originally suggesting was that calling people "mentally unstable" is insulting, at no point did I mention so-called "ableism", I think it's rude that the reward for playing on the server for a long time is to be granted an insulting role.

It's not a matter of ableism, political correctness or any of that bullshit. I just think it's rude.

@'Miasmus.' If it is a joke, as you say, nobody finds it funny. And I certainly don't think the reward for playing on a server on a regular basis gets you a role called "mentally unstable". Not a very rewarding label, in my opinion.

Deauthorized I agree with this too.

Doesn't really come across as the nicest rank, and the name is definitely not professional.

Other servers with ranks similar to our "mentally unstable" rank usually go for calling it something nice like "Regular" or "Trusted".

Vouch. In my experience with you, you've been very helpful and cooperative which is certainly the opposite of what people seem to think you are, as stated in their objection reasons.

Since the drama with Red was almost a year ago now, I can't see why either of you would be aggressive towards each-other.

However, I personally find it annoying, and know lots of other people do too, when people don't read the documentation, and instead of taking a few minutes to browse the project's website, or Googling their issue/error message, they instead message someone for help with their issue that is documented on the site. So, I can relate to Telesphereo being condescending and rude to you. Nobody has to link you to the documentation, offer you support or even fix a bug with the program.

In that case, I think Red should've read the documentation. Or at least asked for a link to it. 😃

Actually, I forgot to say this: I disassemble my phone every night, and hook its battery up to the mains. Works perfectly fine for me, and it makes for a good warmer in bed! Of course, I reassemble it when I wake up.

Yes, yes I do. The reason I can sleep at night is because I believe enough in my phone battery's quality and the British plug. And I have no time to charge it in the morning, so I have to charge it overnight, or else it will not be 100% when I need it.

This is not a suggestion to completely block VPNs/Proxies, unlike the name suggests. Instead it's a official, Mojang-provided, way of blocking Authentication Proxies like TheAltening/MCLeaks which are frequently used by bad actors to evade and circumvent punishments.

Essentially, having this option enabled will result in the server checking the IP the player is connecting from against the IP address they made to the Minecraft authentication server's API.

TheAltening makes an authentication request on the behalf of a player, or at least that's how I think it probably works (I haven't spent the time inspecting traffic they send so this is my best guess), on their VPS' connection. Thus, the IP address they're making the request to the Minecraft authentication server won't match the one connecting to the server.

Unfortunately, what may occur here is that either TheAltening is somehow making these authentication requests with the same IP address as the player trying to log in with a TheAltening account using some sort of proxy and password changing when their session expires. But I'm not entirely sure they do that, so that's why I'm making this suggestion.

What should also be noted is that this might block VPNs/Proxies unintentionally but I don't think it should as the entry for this in the Minecraft wiki states the following:

    Quote

If the ISP/AS sent from the server is different from the one from Mojang Studios' authentication server, the player is kicked.

I think it actually does it per IP address instead of Internet Service Provider/Autonomous System Number, but due to a lack of official documentation on Mojang's end, I can't say for certain.

This option exists in the Bungeecord configuration as well.

Hopefully this might be a better alternative to completely blocking VPNs/Proxies, which if enacted, might be detrimental to some legitimate players and admins who use VPNs.

I think this should be tested to not affect the above mentioned possible side-effects, however I don't currently own suitable infrastructure to test them.
