Alco_Rs11 what is your favourite exploit?

HD Heads. I wish there was another exploit like it where it could be used like how they were. They opened the door for a lot of creative and artistic uses of player heads, including this masterpiece:

burger At what age did you start to develop an interest in computers/computer data and where do you see yourself taking that skill in the future?

I first took interest in computers when I was 5-6 years old. I'll most definitely be utilizing this skill when it comes to datamining projects or archiving. For computers in general, I plan to do it as a career.

@'kanst' how did you manage to stay as an admin here for 8 years

Many reasons. To sum it all up though, I have an unrelenting passion for the server that seems to regenerate itself.

man How much data of TotalFreedom’s Archives do you hold?

The SSD I have dedicated for archived TF-related data contains \~160 GB worth of data, which includes duplicates.

This does not count the many drives that I used for backups of my computers over the years, which have TF content in them too but not as much.

man What is one of, if not the most important lessons you have learnt from TF?

    • Don't wait around and expect someone else to solve a problem for you. Be the one who solves it instead.
    • Do no harm, take no shit.

man When is your next thread about your time on TF coming?

I'll continue working on it once the ProBoards forum becomes accessible again. I don't have an exact date of when I'll post it, either.

man What is one message you would give to the community?

There are many messages I could give to this community, so I'll consolidate them into one big message.

The reason much has changed is because nobody has stepped up and taken action on many of the issues that are present. People talk about wanting things to change, but never actually set their foot down and work to have said change occur. Nobody notices issues with the server until either someone points it out or it becomes a problem. If this community truly wants to see actual progress on the server that isn't just shooting itself in the foot and calling it such, it needs to get its shit together by accepting change, setting their foot down by working to fix problems as they come up, prioritizing fixing problems over adding cosmetics, and being observant of the server itself for any issues.

Since corruption is prevalent pretty much everywhere, might as well include this one: Corruption is only exposed when someone gets the short end of the stick. History has proven this multiple times, and yet people still forget.

man What is one important lesson for life?

I haven't lived life to the fullest yet, so my answer will not be consistent throughout the next few years. As previously mentioned, do no harm and take no shit is a great lesson for life in my opinion.

As many are aware, today is my birthday. I'm now 18 years old. I first joined this server and became an admin when I was 10. Happy birthday to me!

As per tradition (I do this on special occasions), feel free to ask me some questions. Want to know how much data I've got archived? Ask away. Want to know what exactly I've got? Go ahead. Want to know the answer to life the universe and everything? Feel free. The only questions I can't answer are ones that are too personal (such as personal details) or are in regards to secrets I hold.

Frankly, I could care less about not getting the elite title. I am still learning the ropes of how it all works and am far from perfect.

What I do care about is if the person selected is efficient and fast. This is actually one of the main reasons I had planned to adapt a philosophy of "what I say, goes", as it means less time is wasted arguing about something and more time is allocated to... actually developing. This is good, as it means more changes can be made in a single timeframe and thus benefits the server as a whole.

I bring this up because Paldiu's activity concerns me. Prior to his promotion, his activity in terms of contributions was pretty slim. I fear that this inactivity could carry over into his time as the Lead Developer and result in developers working even more inefficiently and sluggishly. Of course, Paldiu's activity could totally skyrocket as a result of this promotion but it's still food for thought.

Ivan Yeah, I should not be allowed to post on the forum when I have been up for 18 hours straight. I end up misinterpreting things and writing things without realizing how it can be interpreted.

With that being said, I still think it was in poor taste to make the joke one like that.

You can "own" the liberals all you want with your stale and unoriginal jokes, but nothing will change the fact that there are people on your side of the political spectrum who unironically believe that there is a cabal of Satan-worshipping cannibalistic pedophiles that are running a worldwide child sex trafficking ring and conspiring against Donald Trump.

You can't make this shit up.

The punishment log entry for PrizmaIII's ban shows HandUnit's IP address, but the logs from Telnet of PrizmaIII show a completely different IP address.

To make sure that HandUnit wasn't caught in some sort of ban through an older IP address, I checked with NetworkManager and compared the IPs used by the offending player with the ones used by HandUnit. None of them were the same.

    What the fuck?

While information about the Skyblock server is a bit limited, it seems that the Skyblock server's intention is to fix the player retention issue we have. I'd like to discuss this in a peaceful manner and offer a solution that could be potentially better than the one currently being implemented. I discussed said solution privately with some folks, so I'm a bit curious to see what the community's thoughts are.

    Problems with Skyblock

    • More players at the cost of what makes us unique. For a little more than decade, we have been built on the idea of giving our players as much freedom as possible, letting them do things you would never get away with on other servers. This is what continues to attract so many players on the server in the first place, really. Adding an overdone gamemode to a server

    • There is nothing unique about a Skyblock server. It does not bring anything new to the table. The idea has been done to death, and this is why things like "OP Skyblock" exist. What made us popular back in the idea was a unique idea. One which hadn't been done before. The ability to use plugins like WorldEdit with barely any restrictions. The ability to go back and forth between Creative and Survival modes seamlessly and instantly. Adding Skyblock as a gamemode would bring nothing new to the table. In addition, many Skyblock servers are literally dedicated solely to that gamemode for a reason.

    My Proposal

I'd like to propose a solution. Not many people have come up with the idea of a server that offers you varying different levels of freedom. If we expanded upon our existing Freedom server concepts to do this, we could possibly take the server in a direction nobody has tried before, bring something new to the table in the process, and continue to be faithful to the server's roots.

In my personal opinion, TotalFreedom should return to its roots with the idea of freedom. I mean this quite literally, too. I envision us having three different levels of freedom: Civilized but more restrictive, a good compromise between the two, and pure anarchy.

    • The first level would be a more modern variant of TF with things like the shop, an actually decent permissions system, and plots.
    • The second level would be more akin to what the server was like back in 2014 - 2016, where we didn't have a large amount of plugins but the community is still somewhat civilized.
    • The third level would be pure free-op with barely any restrictions, much like how the server was like in the beginning. Map wipes would be extremely often. The hierarchy of power becomes nonexistent at this point.

An implementation like this would be much more faithful to the foundation we have built upon for years and would bring something new to the table.

What are your thoughts? Keep it civil, please.
