Tizz Credits to the following for this one:

    • @"ggawdw"#349 For the original book containing the method used to cover the next button with invisible text
    • @"Folfy_Blue"#356 For the bypass that allows books to be clickable again

I will not vote on this for now, but I would like to address some comments made in the replies to this application.

RedEastWood The common response when people have complained about the direction the server is going in is "if you don't like it, you are more than welcome to leave." Fionn didn't like the direction the server was going (and didn't have the time needed to do his duties anyways), so he did exactly as suggested. I don't see how that is pathetic?

DragonSlayer2189   erin Knowing Fionn, neither of these are possible.

Tizz I wasn't perfect either, to be fair.

It should be noted that a clear reason for my suspension wasn't given at the time for months afterwards. It was only after StevenNL2000 made a thread in regards to the topic in the Senior Admin section did the truth come out.

Sleep deprived Video here. I'm taking a calculated risk in making this thread, as I believe issues like this need to be discussed. Because a thread like this is prone to drama, I've put it in Spam and Drama for now. Please understand that I have the best of intentions when writing this thread.

In recent times, some folks in the top ranks have decided to prioritize player count over community, and have basically forced a gamemode onto the server that many veterans are against in favor of a better player count. The general response to concerns about the server's direction has been "if you don't like it, then leave", which is an incredibly dangerous thing to say considering the main intent of the gamemode in question is to stay relevant and to help with player retention... meaning people aren't leaving. It makes no sense to me.

I'd like remind everyone about what really matters in a place like TF: the community. It's the lifeblood of TotalFreedom. It's what keeps things running. As a wise user once told me, you can't have a game without a player. If people don't like the direction the server is going, they will leave. I understand it can have some rather ridiculous consensuses at times, but if you don't want people leaving, please listen to it when making huge changes (e.g. adding new gamemodes) and don't just ignore it by saying that they can leave if they don't like it.

I'm going to warn you all of the potential ramifications that come from taking this community and its members for granted. Please tread carefully when making decisions that could affect the community.

    Thank you.

Your entry in the indefinite ban list is quite old. In addition to the lack of a UUID, there also isn't a reason set in the indefinite ban entry.

    Code
    Wyopia:
      ips:
        - [REDACTED]

There is little information about your time here on the server. However, some backups I took of the server a few years back do provide some information. Here's what I found:

    • You were indefinitely banned sometime between September 2019 and October 2019.

    • The punishment log circa October 2019 only has 5 entries regarding you. All of them are bans, but only one of them has a reason: griefing. The timeframe of said punishments are September 3 - 25 of 2019. None of them have an IP that matches what was ultimately indefinitely banned.

    • At the time of your ban, you did not have player verification enabled. This will be brought up again soon.

      Code
      name: Wyopia
      enabled: false
      ips:
    • [REDACTED]
      clearChatOptOut: false

      Code
    • Your final session was on September 25, 2019. You were automatically banned for spamming while the server was lagging. However, the IP address used to do this was the one that was indefinitely banned, and it did not match any of the existing punishment log entries as mentioned before. This, along with the fact you didn't have Discord verification enabled at the time, leads me to believe you were most likely impersonated. I've included an excerpt of the logs from when this occurred.

Indeed, it has been forever. It has been nearly 2 years since you were banned, and as such I do not see a reason to keep you banned.

    Vouch.

I object. His recent handling of an argument on the forum and his response to being sanctioned for it indicates a lack of professionalism and accountability. The attitude they consistently provided in that incident is not one I'd like to see in an administrator I'd have to work with.

    The argument

In case people aren't aware, an argument on the forums broke out over earlier tonight which got heated really quickly. Instead of responding normally, he began to personally attack users by calling them "childish", "stubborn bastards", and "fucking pathetic", accused them of flaming others, and attempted to publicly shame them. I've included screenshots of the entire argument in the spoiler below. As a result of how heated and derailed the argument got, the thread had to be moderated significantly.

I had to recover this post using existing ones that replied to it, but my archive of this post is the same as what's shown here:

    The aftermath

Multiple users have been temporarily banned from posting on the forums as a result of the incident, including shdwo. Instead of handling it professionally and realizing he was in the wrong, he doubled down and failed to take responsibility for his part in it. This demonstrates an inability to take responsibility for mistakes he makes which is not something one should lack at all as an administrator.

    Conclusion

The applicant was largely involved in a flame war on the forum and failed to own up to his role in said flame war even after being sanctioned for it. I hope the applicant realizes the error of their ways and uses this situation and this vote to improve themselves.
