I'm not going to vote on this, nor am I currently processing it (I plan to do that later tonight), but I'm going to make this clear: you can vote arguing that there are too many admins. A quota has never been needed to argue that. However, when voting with an argument like this you need to be consistent across all ongoing applications and not just a particular applicant.

I literally said to contact me privately if you had any complaints or concerns. Why didn't you listen to me?

Shdwo Am I now not allowed to vote without it being assumed that my vote was due to bias?

Perhaps you should have read what you quoted more closely.

videogamesm12 Along with the fact he was directly involved in what led to [Anzu] resigning, I’m aware that he has been holding a grudge against [her] ever since he was banned from the Discord. The reason for why is pretty obvious knowing what kind of tendencies he has and what happened to him a few months back. This cumulatively led me to conclude he didn’t vote in good faith.

This is the part that matters, because I had already established an objective reason to discard your vote literally weeks before I made that post, which was that you were directly involved in what led to Anzu resigning in the first place. I had established this by investigating what caused Anzu to leave. I found evidence in the form of a message that you sent directly to Anzu after you reported her for a message she said months before. Here's the post in case you don't believe me.

Shdwo People are capable of disregarding a grudge in favour of a fair vote…

Your vote was entirely based on someone else's testimony about someone not changing, which you couldn't even confirm yourself due to your ban from the Discord and Minecraft servers. Even without the other factors including your involvement with the situation in the first place, your vote still wasn't very fair to begin with.

Shdwo If I had vouched on their reinstatement, you wouldn’t have looked further into it, that vouch could have been due to bias (they could’ve been my friend) and you’d be completely fine with that.

You indirectly highlighted a critical flaw in how I processed votes in the past and present, which is literally why I'm doing background checks now (which apply for both sides) to correct this issue, improve myself, and reduce bias in applications. I don't see how this is a problem.

    Quote

Shdwo However if I was to vote negatively, with bias - you’d assume that my votes were automatically “fishy” and are worthy of looking into… If anything, the grudge should be looked into more than the outcome.

Except I did and found that the grudge in question is retarded because you were still in the wrong anyways and yet you tried to avoid any kind of accountability by shifting the blame onto someone else using messages from months earlier that you wouldn't have given two shits about if it wasn't for your ban from the Discord.

    Quote

Shdwo Despite an overwhelming vouch:object ratio, the votes made on a reinstatement/application shouldn’t be disregarded purely because the user making the vote has past experiences with the user applying.

Your private message to Anzu was the straw that broke the camel's back and caused her to resign in the first place. That's a direct connection to the incident.

Maybe User B should grow up and learn when to let things go to avoid fighting a losing battle.

This entire thread was unnecessary. If you wanted to discuss your concerns about how I handled your vote, you should have privately DMed me about it as I suggested in my original post. Instead, for whatever reason you opted to create an overdramatic thread about a problem that was entirely on you, making you look childish. I know I sound rude and I apologize but I'm genuinely frustrated with how you responded to this.

I'm not even saying that you shouldn't discuss this either. I am perfectly fine with people discussing it but if this thread truly was only about the new method of processing applications (which isn't even a big deal in the first place because it's basically the same method as before but background checks are done now as well), then most of the content would be about the new method, not how I handled your vote. Cut me a fucking break.

Given that Anzu is no longer interested in reinstating, I am going to close this reinstatement now. As I do so, there are a few things I would like to note first.

    • My methods of handling votes in applications when I process them is likely to change as a result of this reinstatement. Instead of blindly assuming that all votes were made in good faith like the dumbass I am, I plan to try to do background checks of the people voting (regardless of their vote) to see if there is anything that could imply that the vote was not made in good faith.

    • Had this application reached the stage where I would have processed it, I would have discarded shdwo's vote for the reason I have since stated on Anzu's thread announcing her leave:

I spoke too soon. Windows XP appeared to run the game perfectly fine at a first glance, but things started going downhill fast once I opened an internet browser that (presumably) used hardware acceleration to grab a copy of OptiFine. It started with the internet browser displaying some rather amusing graphical fuckups.

From this point onward, the situation would only get worse. After spending a few minutes looking for the link (and fixing the graphical issues in the browser), I temporarily left it open in the background to check what was going on in-game. Nothing. Literally just the void. Assuming the game had just crashed, I went back to the browser with the intention to deal with the issue later. Boy was I surprised by what I saw.

As you can tell, the page is pretty fucked up, with chunks of the image appearing either corrupted or misplaced. While everything was scrambled like a bunch of puzzle pieces, the page was still perfectly usable. Surely it couldn't get any worse than this though, right?

Nope. It managed to get even worse. Somehow, the corruption I was seeing in the browser managed to leak into the Minecraft client itself, and boy was it flipping the fuck out. Artifacts everywhere, barely rendering anything, the whole sha-bang.

Eventually I wondered what the inventory screen looked like, so I opened the menu. Holy shit was it fucked up. I have literally never seen something so broken in the 7 years I have played on this server.

Within seconds of me taking that screenshot, the computer completely froze for a few moments, and then reverted to a 640x480 resolution with 16 colors. That's right, it got so fucked up that it managed to crash the graphics driver completely.

Please be advised, I am writing this as I'm about to go to bed at 5 AM. I apologize if I sound incoherent.

The way I see things, in systems where votes are evaluated based on reason, the number of votes become irrelevant as the weight of one's argument becomes the deciding factor. In my rather subjective opinion, arguments that actually provide a different viewpoint carry more weight than votes "for the reasons above". The reason why is simple: the former usually brings something new to the table, while the other is just like adding a single piece of paper on top of the original.

videogamesm12 I am going to add onto this by saying that TotalFreedom from the beginning was created with the intention of giving people as much freedom as possible. This is heavily implied with the name. The idea of a rebrand, especially the part about changing the name, also goes against the very reason this server was created in the first place. We should not be changing the name to fit the server. We should be changing the server to fit the name.

My viewpoint on this goes something like this. If a player discovers an exploit in places like Minecraft, Spigot, or even something the server uses, reports it, and never uses it on the server again after that, they are granted an exception of the rule for that case only. If, however, they discover an exploit and then begin abusing it after initially reporting it, they lose the exception they had and can be sanctioned for it.

      Shdwo not me?

    different profile picture see

Completely irrelevant; the screenshot Ashaz posted was taken from when that was your profile picture. Take responsibility for your actions, because you know what you were doing.

    Quote

Shdwo seriously though, that material was old having appeared just around a month ago and was on a discord server that had no relation to TF at all.

It doesn't matter if it happened on an official TotalFreedom platform or not, because that's not the point Ashaz was trying to make. Ashaz was trying to use this as an example of your behavior and how you treat others, especially people you don't like. In addition, it is hypocritical for you to disregard the argument by saying this was months ago considering you tried to invalidate your Discord ban using evidence that was already months old to begin with.

    Quote

Shdwo I think it was \ RedEastWood tbh...

Nope, it was you. Enough shifting the blame, it's time for you to take responsibility for what you've done.

    Quote

Shdwo Are you seriously advertising right now?

That's completely irrelevant and even if it was, he isn't even advertising in the first place because again, that's not the point Ashaz was trying to make.

    Quote

Shdwo I'm more than happy to provide a better reason if that suits your fancy, it just seemed the most appropriate at the time.

If you had more than one reason, then you should have included them in the form of a list. Given the circumstances at the time of this appeal being filed and the fact that you don't seem to be taking this appeal seriously with many of your responses, I don't think you created this appeal for any other reason than because the server was shutting down, which is no longer the case. In addition, I am certain that this ban appeal would not have been filed if it wasn't for the announcement of the shutdown.

If you're not mature enough to take responsibility for your conduct here and elsewhere and instead resort to antics like shifting the blame onto others when people call you out, then I don't see how you would behave any
different on here, and as such I don't see why you should be allowed to re-enter the Discord server.

    Denied.

For what it's worth, I was going to discard his vote on your reinstatement anyways. Along with the fact he was directly involved in what led to you resigning, I'm aware that he has been holding a grudge against you ever since he was banned from the Discord. The reason for why is pretty obvious knowing what kind of tendencies he has and what happened to him a few months back. This cumulatively led me to conclude he didn't vote in good faith.

All the way back in April in my original thread about Windows XP with modern versions of Minecraft, I pondered what the performance would be like on physical hardware. A few months later as a bit of an experiment, I decided to see using a computer with hardware supported by Windows XP. After (painfully) getting MultiMC and Java to play nicely, I was able to launch the game. Better yet, I was able to connect to the server and actually play on it.

Surprisingly, it runs pretty decently, running around 40 FPS on average.

I am creating this thread to gauge community input on where the direction of the TotalFreedomMod's development should go. From where I see things, there are two directions in which I believe we could go. However, I'm curious to know what your thoughts are as well.

    • Improving the current experience by fixing bugs, improving overall maintainability, and expanding upon existing features.
Contrary to what Ryan says, my demoralization isn't from the player count. It's from my inability to be able to make changes that would help the plugin in multiple ways. This inability is primarily because from my eyes, the direction development is going favors features over maintainability. While this approach doesn't add much in terms of features, it greatly improves how things are set up in the sense that future additions/changes will be much easier to implement and implementations will be vastly easier to work with.

    • Adding more features.
This may give players more things to do and may help to motivate more developers, but implementing them now when the codebase in the TotalFreedomMod is messy can lead to serious problems and may even make some things nearly impossible to pull off. Adding more features is great, but you need a solid foundation to implement it right. In my opinion, we don't have that at the moment.

    • Other.
A direction not expressed in this post but something you yourself have come up with.

The approval rating was 100% - approved. Congratulations and welcome to the team.

Anti can be spotted in screenshots going back to January 2015 under the name fairygirl12. She's outlasted many admins over the years, including people who have made it to the very top.
