This application has taken a long time to be processed and this is mainly because Erin and I have been busy writing a thread on an investigation and dealing with real life shit. However, I've decided to get this over with so that things don't pile up.

Here are some issues that have been repeatedly brought up in this application:

    • Disregard for authority

    • Recklessness

    • Impulsive decision-making

Don't get me wrong, you have definitely improved since his last application, but you still have a lot of room for improvement before I can comfortably consider you ready to become an admin. You should use what has been brought up in this application to learn from your mistakes and continue to improve yourself.

Denied. You may reapply in 30 days.

    Confirmed.

Since development in Plex regained momentum in late 2021, Packs has been taking initiative and leading the development of Plex (which has an increasingly high likelihood of replacing TFM on here) with incredible success as stated in his application. Taking initiative and leading are two very important factors to being a good Senior, and from what I've seen, he has nailed these.

    May 20, 2022 Changes:

    • Decreased the minimum participation requirement from 15 months to 12 months

Here's what the template originally said before I changed it:

    @'Miasmus.' Here you go.

    • Foundational
A social credit system by design is intended to revoke/grant rights to people based on a score that would be influenced by the community, management, and/or both. This system goes against the foundation of the server, where the goal is to grant as much rights/freedoms and as equally as possible by design, not by credit.

    • Social
A system like this would heavily discourage diversity in opinions as then people in all likelihood lose social credit just for having a different opinion. With their freedoms being revoked, these people would feel discriminated against and thus be discouraged from continuing to play on the server. Combined with the extremely high likelihood of occurring due to this server's demographic, this scenario becomes breeding ground for a hivemind worse than Reddit and Twitter.

    • Logical
A system like this for a Minecraft server raises a lot of questions. How would this system even work? Would one's actions of the past count towards their social credit score? What would result in one gaining or losing social credit? Where would the credit be stored? What rights would be revoked/granted? It just doesn't make sense.

The spam attacks are actually two-pronged - chat spam and /msg spam.

Admins could easily mute/ban the spammer in question, but because we're using NetworkManager's stupid fucking inter-server messaging system which bypasses literally every sanction including command blocking and mutes, the spammer just ends up spamming people's /msg. With how widely disliked this stupid system is by the community, at this point we should just shitcan it. Nobody wanted this shit to begin with.
