    Greetings!


    I have been hard at work creating the official TF Garry's Mod website. I tried to keep the domain name as similar to TF's as possible, while retaining the uniqueness that our GMod server provided.


    The actual website was built around the theme of Garry's Mod - a quaint blue background with sharp and minimalistic additions. I tried to emulate a sense of advancement, with a theme that has an array of futuristic images and technical connotations.

    We definitely do have plans to expand into those gamemodes, very shortly too; I just wanted to be sure to implement a classic "TotalFreedom-esque" server to the TF universe. As it always has stood, TF is a sandbox place of freedom, one which allows users to mimic and emulate certain activities they wouldn't be able to do on another. Once we have firmly established this server, we will look to expand on to other servers.


    Since you two are clearly passionate about the topic, could I perhaps count on your assistance when we do expand into a DarkRP server?

  • Wipe the worlds and CoreProtect db with a 7-14 day notice

    I object to anything other than a flatlands wipe. I have seen firsthand the amount of effort a few individuals have put into building on TF. I admire them for their work, and performing an act that would essentially tell them to "restore their own work" is a slap in the face. These individuals have chosen TotalFreedom to be their home, the place they have chosen their craftsmanship to be on full display, and it wouldn’t be just to wipe their work.


    A flatlands wipe, however, seems acceptable. Most of the builds there are built and forgotten about; I don’t reckon people have huge build works on the flatlands.

    I have no issue in paying for advertising and players. As for player retention, I believe our addons and server ethos should be enough. Do you have any suggestions on how I can improve both the player base and player retention?

  • Official TotalFreedom GMod Server

    Today marks the grand unveil of the TotalFreedom GMod Server. I will be running and managing this server, with a team of a select few individuals aiding me. If you wish to be included in beta testing, please DM me at redeastwood#8559

    Four Key Principles

    The TF GMod server, hereby referred to as TFGM, has one mission statement that me and my team aim to commit to fully. It stands as the following


    “TFGM is a sandbox Garry’s Mod server, which boasts far more addons and expansions than any other server of a similar nature can provide. We ensure that players will have a surplus of activities, games, items and NPCs they can play around with.”


    The nature of GMod is such that we can bend and manipulate every aspect of the game to ensure a seamless and fun experience for all our players.


    TFGM has four underlying principles that cohesively glue my server philosophies together. They are as follows:


    1) TFGM will not be co-dependent on the Minecraft server for players
    I fully expect and am prepared to receive new players from GMod, who do not know about TotalFreedom and its various assets. My plan is to gain new players from GMod, and then draw them into the larger TotalFreedom universe.


    2) TFGM will be an inherently sandbox Garry’s Mod experience.
    The sandbox game mode is the second largest by player count, surpassed only by DarkRP servers; the demand for such a freedom sandbox is evident, as through my research, I have found no other server that functions like we will.


    3) TFGM’s sandbox game mode will have a huge variety of addons
    The addon feature on GMod is particularly revering, it grants us the ability to tailor a server to suit our specific needs. We will ensure that an individual on the TFGM server will have a whole host of items to use, games to play, and NPCs to kill.


    4) The TFGM server abides by the standard TF conduct policy.
    In order to successfully melt into the TF enterprise, we deem it necessary for our players to follow our essential Player Conduct Policy, as seen on the forums. I will be making a separate thread detailing the nature of how some rules may change due to a different game.

    Key features about this panel are that it looks and feels insanely good, it has advanced features such as a health monitor, backdoor scanner, smart file search, intelligent fastdl, and a mod installer.

    Staff

    As it stands, I have four members in my TFGM team (myself included). I oversee, manage (and micromanage) every detail of the operation. TheBlazingFlames is our developer and our technical specialist. CrazyNick is our server configurator, he will ensure the user experience is immaculate. Shdwo acts as our staff support, aiding us in day-to-day tasks.

    Resources

    Initially, we will be using my own VPS for testing purposes. After the server is deemed to be ready, we will switch over to Superior Network Infrastructure, provided for by Ryan.
    We run on 8GB RAM, 400% CPU, and 240GB SSD.
    GMod requires significantly less resources than a Minecraft server, however due to the extreme addition of plugins and addons, we would require a sizeable amount of RAM. 8GB is reasonable here.

  • RedEastWood - Senior Admin Application

    I realise and understand the core issues regarding the majority of the objects on my application. They are all very valid concerns. As I have addressed Steven, and many of you in DMs, I am looking to change this; I have asked those who have objected on how to improve. I have received many helpful tips. I’d like to thank Miwojedk, zeseryu and James for providing me with tips on how to better myself.


    As such, I have one request - this application is live for two weeks, and I think it fair to assess my true change at the end of those two weeks. I am asking for those who have objected for the reasoning of my aggressive nature on the forums and discord, to give me these two weeks to prove myself and my change to you. Therefor, I am requesting you to perhaps update your decision once you have seen said change (or keep your decision once having seen a lack of change)

    I would also like to call into account the positives of my application, and I hope that you realise that, at least to me, the positives outweigh the negatives; such is shown through my seven senior admin recommendations.

    This argument has gone on too long.


    This user is clearly committed to getting unbanned on this server; as is demonstrated through his incessant pestering and exhaustive analysis of the Server Conduct Policy.


    There is nothing in the Conduct Policy that precludes a user from having a crash head that only they use, a personal artefact that is not spread in any way.


    As such, I think it fair to give this individual one last chance, to be able to join and play the server. However, this should be taken as a very last chance scenario - if you mess up once more, you will be perm banned and added to the list of unappealable ostracized individuals.


    I would also call for the Conduct Policy to be amended so that this situation is not repeated.

    Unlike Admin, Senior Admin is primarily a leadership position and you must be able to lead other admins in a mature manner and be a responsible representative of Total Freedom. Provide a paragraph of your accomplishments and why you think you'd made a good Senior Admin.


    Having been an administrator on this server for quite a substantial amount of time, I have successfully established myself firmly into the TotalFreedom universe – such a universe having a very special place in my heart, for it nurtured me and turned me into the man I am today. TotalFreedom is a place where people could bond over the most obscure and somewhat esoteric similarities - we were all far too grown for our boots. We all acted way more mature than we were, and it is that culture that this server inspired, that truly took its toll on the outcome of my life. I was able to take skills I learnt while being an admin and manipulate those into something much bigger; I became eloquent in speech, discerning in nature and cogent in whatever I do. I learnt these attributes from the various members on TotalFreedom - thriving in the culture created. Applying for Senior Admin is something I have thought about doing for a very long time, alas time restrictions and various other regulations forbode me from doing so. Today, however, I am eligible and willing to throw my name in the hat.
    I am an extremely dependable individual, if someone asks something of me, I am sure to do it. Various TF members can attest to this, especially those who work with me on a day-to-day basis; and it is this dependability I hope to bring to the Senior Admin team, involving myself more deeply into the TotalFreedom culture and society. I have demonstrated my managerial skills during my tenure as the Owner of URF, a server that while short-lived, was extremely successful; garnering a surplus of players under my tight rule. I would be an effective role model, buckling down and getting work done when required. I inspire my younger peers to work towards their education, and such can be testified to by Elmon and Luke (if he was still here). If someone needs any form of help, my DMs have always been, and always will be open. I always try to make individuals feel happy when times are low, and a few operators have experienced this with me.
    I thrive in a team-based environment, such as that of TotalFreedom – and this is evident when I get along with my fellow admin peers. I have made many friends over my years here, some have departed whilst I can still share a laugh with others.
