Okay, so here's the problems thats holding the server back:

    Lack of creativity

Minecraft is a game about building and creativity, our community is not creative. The random builds that are just //copyed and //pasted and spammed around near spawn, and the Off Topic board proves this.

We focus too much on new players, and not our current players

We keep on trying to find new players. We should instead focus on retaining the players that are already here, that way, if new players do join, we don't lose them immediately.

Server plan has shown that on average 86 new players join per 7 days.

There are a total of 5952 players according to plan, however only 93 are considered "Regular" (to be considered "Regular", you need an Activity Index of 3.0+)

There are 750 members registered on the forum, however, only 102 members are "Student" or higher (to get "Student", you need 300+ WoltLab points)

The issue is not that we can't find new players, the issue is that we keep losing these players.

    Lack of problem solving

The skill to be able to solve problems, being able to solve problems will help the server during a dire situation. However, the fact I was unable to provide any solutions to the problems mentioned above proves this.

Ivan Revolt is literally like me copying an essay from a friend and changing a few words; it’s literally Discord with a few changes

You can make the same argument with any piece of software. Consider iOS vs Android, there are people who believe that Android copied iOS, like you both believing Revolt copied Discord.

Ivan And if Revolt got as mainstream as Discord did, there is no doubt in my mind their TOS would be as restrictive.

The difference here is that Revolt can be decentralized, unlike Discord, which means you can host the platform where the TOS doesn't apply. Also, I haven't seen a software go from open source to closed source.

Ivan If you’re breaking TOS, don’t get snitched out. Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.

So, you would rather live in a country where you don't have rights and hide from the police 24/7 rather than escaping to a country where you do have rights?

    Vouch to use revolt.

When noah appealed his Discord ban for being underage, simplynick didn't believe that noah is old enough to access the Discord. So he asked noah to give him any legal documentation that proves he's of age to access the Discord. Since noah didn't give any info, simplynick veto'd the appeal.

People should not be forced into giving their info, especially for things like being on a Minecraft community. Imagine that you are a new player to the community and all of the sudden you an executive tells you that you must provide your documents to play on the server. You think that's stupid, so you left the server for good.

This is the type of stuff that will kill TotalFreedom, and will hurt our reputation. We don't want to be dubbed as "The Minecraft Server That You Must Provide Your Legal Documents To Play" as I wouldn't play on a Minecraft server that requires you to provide your legal documents.

In short, instead of simplynick asking noah for his legal documentation, he should have just unbanned him instead.

(This is a Minecraft server, not a movie theater or border control. Stop playing Papers Please)

Object, You only want to switch because of nostalgia. I get it, you want to relive the old days and change sucks.

Additionaly, ProBoards has these anti-features, which makes it intolerable to me:

    • Forced advertisements
    • Forced "shop" feature (bloatware, additionally it makes our community less child-friendly, kids will start accidently buying virtual items on the forum with real-life money as they don't know the concept of money)
    • Increased unappealable bans, as we will have to start enforcing ProBoards TOS (violaing the TOS of any platform is a Catagory 0 ban)

man True, they never explicitly said that it sucks, but why would I tell users not to use a certain product? The only reason is that I think that the product isn't good, because why else you would you say to not use it?

If you hate a product, you would tell people to not use the product. Because you think it sucks (and that's what people do).

    It's just common sense

@'Ryan' I’m not sure that it’s a great idea yet, so would want people here to give a pretty compelling reason for making warning details public.

We already made in-game bans public (every time someone gets tempbanned a message appears, and we have indefinite ban requests) so why shouldn't warnings be public when we already made bans public?

Yes, we're talking about matscalle here. I will admit that his suggestions aren't the best of suggestions, but can a guy just have an opinion? One key element of freedom is allowing people to state their ideas/opinions no matter how "stupid" they may be. We shouldn't be banning people solely just because you disagree with their ideas/opinions, matscalle shouldn't have to stop posting because of it.

I know that some of you might say "but he's spamming the forum", you need to know that intent matters. I don't think that matscalle intentionally wants to spam the forum, but when you have a lot of ideas it can seem that way. He means no harm and should be permitted to post those suggestions regardless of how "stupid" you may think it is (stupidity is not against the rules).
