Theoretically viaversion could be added for temporary support just for 1.17 clients and only that. the more versions you add the more exploits and weird bugs you open up. it might not even be worthwhile to add viaversion to the server as of now as I don't even think waterfall has a 1.17 version yet

@DragonSlayer2189#19719 Boot Camp does not work with the M1. I would recommend getting 512GB of storage rather than 256GB if you intend on keeping it a long time. 256GB might work if you're 100% reliant on external drives but I prefer to use the speed of the internal drive to my advantage. I will usually offload large projects when I am done with them rather than work on an external drive all the time. Same with 16GB of RAM. As Steven said, nothing can be upgraded on M1 machines. At a minimum, just get the one with 4 USB C ports, you'll end up shooting yourself in the foot if you don't

@DragonSlayer2189#19672 Vouch and recommend

@Madea#19666 So are you interested in buying a M1 24 inch or the 27 inch Intel one? The only thing I can tell you is the M1 model that's $200 more has better thermals. That's the only actual advice since there's no other options besides RAM and storage
-
If you are getting the M1, you should get the one that's $200 more. The cheapest one has reduced thermals and has shown to not have as good performance. Also, with the M1 you cannot dual boot, you will have to use Parallels. I have a 16GB with 1TB storage MacBook Air. Highly recommend and that's handled all my needs very well

So basically I have a pihole at hole for ad blocking. I also have a VPN setup on it that uses 10.66.66.1 (the wireguard local ip) for the DNS servers. So DNS is not port forwarded to the internet. I have pi hole configured to serve requests from anywhere, but since DNS nor the webserver can be accessed locally I don't think that's a problem. The only thing you can access from the outside is the VPN which then uses itself for DNS since they're on the same machine. Are there any security implications by doing it this way?
Second question is should I have my pi get an IP on the management lan (the Ubiquiti default, where all of the access points and switches are) or the LAN for the network (10.1.0.0/24, where all the normal wifi devices connect)? I don't think there's really any different but what if someone scans it on the network? if it's on a different vlan then it doesn't show up in network scanners like Fing. But I'm wondering if that's an actual issue
Also the last question is: is it possible to give my pi hole multiple IP addresses? Like for example you can access pi hole on 192.168.1.50 and that's where the DNS and webserver are. But what if I also wanted to use Unbound for DNS? I'm aware with Pi hole you can make Unbound use a different port (like 5335) and tell pi hole to use 127.0.0.1#5335 for DNS. But what about my normal phone or computer which doesn't let you specify a port? How could I make it for example that 192.168.1.100 is a valid DNS server with port 53 alongside 192.168.1.50 with pi hole. All I've seen are really complicated iptables rules but I really don't understand that or think it's what I'm looking for

@Alco_Rs11#19358 These are the two drivers I used
The scan driver actually does come with the Scan app, my mistake. However, to my knowledge, Windows doesn't come with one built in and HP Smart is actual garbage so I guess it's good they included it for an average user.
I also installed Event Manager (as above it lets you scan from the printer to the computer) and the Software Update tool to keep the drivers up to date (no, you do not have to install the software update tool)
This is all that appears in the EPSON folder
The reason there are two scans is because the old printer uses Scan and the new printer uses Scan 2.
You can also turn off automatic updates entirely
In total this is what I have for both Epson printers

Yeah /msg is broken for me too

Unfortunately I am not able to find anything for NameCheap. I'll try restoring my phone tomorrow but its 3:30 am here
-
@StevenNL2000#18989 some of them never gave me backup codes (for example, JumpCloud). I did save the ones for OVH in my password manager but no such luck for NameCheap which is arguably really really important. I have no idea where they are now. I've clean installed Windows many times so I've probably lost them

So much for security. Basically my phone was having a lot of issues so I decided to fully factory reset it. I forgot that 2FA stuff wouldn't transfer over. I was using Google Authenticator. I did make a backup, but it seems to be useless. All the backup does is queue a list of apps to download and doesn't even preserve any of the data. I tried restoring the backup and guess what? It didn't restore anything other than a list of apps to download. No old data from the apps is there and I don't even have photos that should've been backed up. Not worried about the photos as they were already backed up externally, but the 2FA tokens are a disaster. I was able to use SMS verification for a few services, but I'm totally locked out of a few. Is there any way I can salvage the backup I made of my iPhone before restoring it? I made one on my Mac and on my PC (two places to be safe). I might be able to open it in 3uTools maybe. Basically calling the God StevenNL2000 himself.
Edit: I actually should note that even though the backup was on my phone I restored it on my iPad. I didn't want to accidentally update my phone because it's on a jailbreakable version. I doubt doing it on the phone itself would make a difference, it's just data for the exact same operating system on a different screen size

I love how all the "Featured Content" for this printer is literally just a bunch of issues

Surprisingly the HP Scan app appeared on my (Enterprise LTSC) computer also. I added my printer from the Windows settings and for some reason even though it's an Epson added the HP Scan app. I think it may just be a Windows thing because HP paid them to do it. I just used the standalone drivers from Epson and the app never showed up again. Not with Apple but I actually opted to install Epson's scanner tool since Windows doesn't work that well. Didn't need it on my Mac because it actually works but the Epson scanner definitely worked a lot better than that HP Scan crap Windows installed for me.

@Alco_Rs11#18923 There is an option for both. You can do a combo download which has the drivers and bloat. Right below there is an option to download each package individually so you can just download the drivers for copy/scan/fax. I downloaded the event manager or whatever. All that does is allow you to scan from the printer to the computer. There really isn't any "bloat" per se except for the scanner. There are (for some reason) two scanner apps but you are not required to use them. I either scan from the printer to my computer or if I'm doing it on my computer use the built in one from Apple (works with the drivers automatically)

Epson ET-4760. It was honestly (really) expensive and the build quality isn't great. But I've definitely seen worse from HP so it's not the worst. It basically has bottles of ink that you fill up inside the printer. You can actually see how much ink is in there compared to an ink cartridge where you're relying on software which is probably lying. The only actual complaint is that it does print a little slower than an inkjet. I've also had some network issues with it that could only be fixed by unplugging it. Things improved after I installed the official driver from Epson rather than using AirPrint. It still prints much slower than an inkjet though. But the ink is so damn cheap. You can get 4 bottles of ink (all colors and black) for $50 compared to the $40 I would pay for one ink cartridge. I did some math and the cost of owning it is almost the same as a color laser printer which was my other choice. The problem was that it was a lot bigger and heavier. But also, the upfront cost of toner is a lot more. You have to replace your toner a lot less, but when you do it's really expensive. The cost difference after like 35,000 pages is only around $20 between a color laser printer and this.
I saw a lot of people were complaining about clogged printheads and if you don't print every day or two you're gonna waste ink unclogging it. Well I've gone two weeks without printing and it was fine. Of course if you don't use it for eight months the ink will dry out. Our old Epson printer is coming up on five years old now (it's an inkjet) and aside from the ink cost that printer has been very reliable.
New Epson ink vs print stats
So yeah the ink has barely drained so far. The ink on our old printer drains like crazy. Only after like 10 pages was the black and magenta already halved.Old Epson stats (ink has been changed so many damn times)
So yeah I highly recommend the Epson ET-4760. It's a really good printer that goes against the bullshit HP printers (and all inkjets really) that suck up ink so damn fast. I don't usually post these kinds of things unless I really like it or really hate it (cough UniFi)
