↩ @'r00t' I cannot lie but everything about that looks like garbage. If you're saying that's what Microsoft copied, I disagree except for the colored folders and Microsoft did a better job at making them look good. That screenshot looks a mockup made on a knockoff Photoshop

↩ @'r00t' I always wondered what happened if you uninstalled the Microsoft Store. Does “disable” count as “uninstall”?
I did both. I disabled it in GPO and uninstalled the actual application. Disabled will keep the application but you cannot do anything with it.
Quote↩ @'r00t' It also took them quite a while, which is proof that Microsoft is lazy.
I don't really agree with this way of thinking. At least Microsoft is trying in areas where backwards compatibility won't outright be broken.
Quote↩ @'r00t' That’s because they stole it from the Linux community (specifically the KDE Plasma desktop environment).
And this is a bad thing? It's a major improvement whether they came up with the entire design from scratch or took inspiration. The way Microsoft did it in 10 was unlike pretty much every other settings app so I'm glad it's finally normal in some sense.
Quote↩ @'r00t' I think the Windows 10 Ribbon had more features.
It's never looked good and I've never really used the ribbon. I think this way is actually even better than the ribbon because it has exactly what I need in a compact but readable manner (although what I've linked is not the default interface)

vouch we should definitely turn "TotalFreedom" into a prison server

Been there done both. Windows 11 is good if you're willing to install StartAllBack and use Revo uninstaller to get rid of all the bloatware. LTSC is good if you can't be bothered or you prefer 10's interface. Gotta say that I honestly prefer 11 over LTSC. It's been much faster for me even on unsupported hardware. All the bugs will get sorted out, it's still pretty new. Although I personally haven't experienced any bugs yet. If you really want an os that isn't half baked windows 7 is for you. LTSC is just as half baked as 11, you just don't have to debloat it yourself
Edit: as for your speeds getting throttled, that may is most likely your drivers being out of date or not installed which is a problem regardless of operating system. The same thing happens to be until I install the obscure Realtek LAN driver. It could also just be a bad night or your ISP throttling you

So I recently upgraded to Windows 11. After debloating the hell out of it and using group policy to basically disable the entire microsoft store, I am left with a bloat free system.
Getting rid of "Get Started" is literally impossible for some reason. To Microsoft's credit, they did make the settings to modify DNS something from the 21st century
Aside from the oversized titles, the new settings app is much better looking and organized.
I ended up turning off the new explorer since the new buttons are pretty useless. I can't understand what a bunch of icons that all look the same mean. This way is much better

why would you want to do this to yourself

So Steven helped me on Discord and as said above the script creates a file called params that stores parameters for generating new configuration files. Somehow the params file changed the public and private keys. The private key in the params and the actual WireGuard config need to match. The public key is generated from the private key (I think) which is what is shown in wg show and what needs to be in the [Peer] PublicKey section.
I made it so client B had to change nothing by replacing the wg0.conf private key with the one from the params file. If I wanted to change it so client A had to change nothing I would have left the actual wg0.conf file the same and changed the private key from wg0.conf to the params file and then changed Client B to use the old key.
This was admittedly very confusing as the problem of Client B not getting internet seemingly resolved itself after another reboot.

↩ @'Ryan' that is true and very irritating. for some reason it looks like they even removed the most basic of changing whether a user is a standard user or administrator from settings. also rip the old profile pics you used to get, they just want you to use your Microsoft account for everything
-
↩ @'Ryan' the dialog box would have actually been fine it's just the XP theme and administrator icon. those could definitely be changed no problem since they're just images. yeah it wouldn't be consistent with the new settings but there's already like 37 ways to domain join, each way being different

Same thing happened to me as well. I just decided to switch to MultiMC instead to be perfectly honest

Hello,
I have the most bizarre problem at the moment. So basically I run WireGuard which is all good. I don't even know how to explain it, but new clients aren't working.
I have profile A which I made many months ago. I recently created a new profile, B. Profile A works and Profile B doesn't. I checked the .conf file and both of them are exactly the same except for the keys are different for each user. What I do know is that profile A is able to connect fine. Profile B seemingly doesn't connect at all. I ruled out DNS because I can't even ping IP addresses when using profile B. I tried rebooting the entire server and it didn't help. If I run wg show it does recognize that the clients do exist. They are also correctly in the /etc/wireguard/wg0.conf file. I thought that it was perhaps a coincidence because it had the IP of 10.66.66.10. I tried deleting the existing 10.66.66.9 user and setting the IP for 10.66.66.10 to 10.66.66.9 to see if maybe by some miracle that was it. It wasn't. I also tried disabling the firewall, but this wouldn't help since profile A is able to connect and use everything just fine. Basically paging Steven for help with this, I don't even know how to explain it.
Edit: okay so looking for differences I did find that on the Peer part of the file, the public key for the old two are the same and the new one is different. In the params file, it's the new public key. If I run wg show the public key says it's the old one that all the old files are using?? I changed the new file to use the old public key. This time at least when I run wg show, it actually acknowledges a connection, but I am still unable to use the internet
Edit 2: to clarify, if it is the public key I'd like to change it so that the new one is used instead. I've already made and deployed the new configs non working so I need to do whatever it takes to make config B work with no change at all even if it makes me need to change config A

What are some of the more ridiculous "Microsoft" things in Windows?
Firstly, this is apparently the only place to change what the power button on your PC does
The fact that the "new" Windows 11 explorer menu is literally just an overlay that isn't even lined up correctly
The fact that the Fonts folder looks like this
This god awful Group Policy menu
Windows XP UI in Group Policy
This dialog box still exists even in Windows 11
What ridiculous UI things have you seen in Windows?

↩ StevenNL2000 But if I were to put 10.10.10.5 in wouldn't it not make it public at all?
