  • Make the DM Advertising rules not so harsh

    I was banned yesterday as you know for discord advertising, as of now since i’ve been unbanned i was going to make this post.


    literally with the current rule i could send a picture of anyone sending me a link to a discord server and they’d be banned immediately, no questions asked, no context required, no warnings, no awareness of the rule needed for them, and no investigations.


    like legit here’s a picture of noah sending me a link to a discord and i could get him banned instantly falsely


    like i think it should be


    1st offense - Warning
    2nd offense - 24h mute
    3rd offense - ban


    like it doesn’t make any sense to have the rule as insanely tight as it is when there are far worse things people can do in discord.

    around 4 pm today i was bored and was chatting up random people in my friends list, and i got into a really dumb conversation with luke (phrman in discord)


    i had a conversation for maybe 8 minutes or so just putting random images and shit in dms and one of them mentioned a circumcision, and the understandable have a great day image

    i was not intending on him joining the server, it was a satirical server, and it was created as a joke a few hours earlier.


    i have never and will never dm advertise, nor was i intending on luke joining the server


    i also want to point out i was not talking to him from the tf discord it was completely unrelated, and i had a full conversation before this, i just happened to post a link to a discord server


    i don’t see it as dm advertising, and i struggle to see how it could be interpreted that way


    so to luke for whatever reason you shared our odd conversation i apologize if i came across as advertising "Weekly Group Masturbation" to you, and i also apologize for my odd behavior lmao.

    i think this whole situation is dumb because admins will make satire announcements and use console for jokes and pranks all the time so i think if the message is clearly a joke and not trying to impersonate it being an actual announcement i think it should be fine


    like what is the difference between an admin using the console to say peepeepoopoo and an op faking the same message

    so there’s been a lot of talk in the last week of microsoft possibly buying discord, but i have an alternative idea

    imagine if Discord got to take over Office 365


    We would have Discord Word, Discord PowerPoint, we would have document boosting, Word Nitro,


    imagine if they took over work on minecraft too it would be epic as hell


    i think it would overall be a good decision for discord to buy microsoft

    i think something we could do is make fitmc style documentaries on different things on the server except make them pretty short (under 2 minutes)


    maybe do a video about the enders, the imperium, maybe a historical event like seths departure from the server, etc.
