FLACs are really only necessary in my eyes if you have proper gear with an amplifier and DAC and all that

I notice a difference and I just have some (admittedly pretty good) Bose speakers hooked up to my PC without anything fancy

Well yes, my point is, while obviously there will always be some difference between the formats, the difference when you don't have the proper, will be less so than the difference when you do have said equipment. Either way, the difference isnt really worth the price tag for Flacs especially considering that not all music is available in the format. If you want something good without all the hassle go with Wav with a 44.1KhZ sample rate, this is the format almost all published musicians export their stuff in, so it's easy to find, and on top of that, it's a hell of a lot better than streaming or using mp3s. But yes, if you REALLY want that ultra high quality music go ahead and listen to FLACs but personally, I think it's not worth it

as I think it isn’t super clear from the comments of this post I will explain. Basically after the permissions all fucked up on the events server the problem was contained only within the events server, but then one user on the events server added the * permission node to the default network manager group, fucking up permissions all across the network. Presumably, after this happened, that same user, and probably some others, went around to the other servers and fucked stuff up further, now that they had full unrestricted permissions on the entire network

Thanks for explaining, but it’s fucking ridiculous to act like that one individual was the reason for this outage. We fucked up, they found it. Our fuck up is the main cause, not the individual. We failed in our role to make sure shit like this doesn’t happen; I appreciate that the user did fuck up too and they should be banned, but the majority of blame lies with us so let’s not pretend.

yeah I agree, this has been extensively talked about already behind the scenes though, and while I do not know if any sort of punishment will happen for the individual who caused this issue, the underlying issues which caused this to happen have been addressed privately

im confused, isnt it very public knowledge who caused this? or do you mean who ran the command

AirPods and basically all Bluetooth devices use a lossy compressed audio stream

That's odd, because oftentimes they're the audio devices with the best quality for me

I may be wrong here but iirc, the reason for this is because different Bluetooth headphones can different compression methods, but the main factor that makes some Bluetooth headphones better than others is the hardware stuff but idk I’m not qualified to talk about audio hardware, I just know the software side

As a producer I’ll say that unless you have the gear, just use mp3s, while there are major technical differences, for the average music listener it really isn’t going to be noticeable. If you really care a lot about the quality, Wav files will prob give you good results. FLACs are really only necessary in my eyes if you have proper gear with an amplifier and DAC and all that

Current eta for restore is going to be the end of next weekend. Unfortunately I've only just got home and have commitments this week and the damage from what I've seen is substantial. Will update if this changes but so far I can't see me getting to look at this until the end of Friday and it'll be a day or two to fix the mess.

Are there any backups we can get running in the meantime? At the very least for the Freedom gamemode. Skyblock may be more wanted by some people but if we play on a backup our progress we make will be reset when the fixed version comes online, so I'd be against making a backup of that running unless all regulars on it are fine with just playing for the sake of playing and not expect progress saves.

multiple problems with that 1) our backups are so large it would be incredibly painful to do a full restore from one iirc, 2) the whole issue is that due to some players abusing their newfound permissions once they got them, a lot of network wide stuff is all fucked up, as such it is unclear just how much is fucked and so it’s risky to try and have any segments of the server open to the public.

You can live without TF for a week, go play hypixel or something

there’s also a small server I’ve heard of under the ip plex.us.org but it’s probably lame

Until v6 actually releases (its still in closed beta atm iirc) I'm gonna have to say no way. either way it would be a shit ton of work to get everything migrated back to proboards, it would probably be easier to import everything from proboards to here than it would be to move back to it (speaking of which is this possible to do)

    It's in open beta

still, would be a pain to switch and also its in beta, meaning potential other issues

Vouch let's do it ProBoards v6 looks insanely good

What do yous suggest it is if not tfm rewrite plex given literally nothing else caused this and this happened directly after plex was installed

most likely answer is configurations problems, as plex was likely trying to run its permission system while NM was trying to run its permission system, and then because the permissions systems were conflicting, both plugins systems ended up not working

Basicly both systems work perfectly fine on their own but when you just kinda slap another system onto the server it all breaks down
