    @'FT ' as in something like https://totalfreedom.me/conduct?

Probably, I need to figure the details out but yes, I would expect something like that in the long term. No reason we couldn't use tf.fo as short links, it's just not something I'd thought of.

@'FT ' this is a tiny bit off-topic, but is there any chance of announcements going back to being handled by TFM? i suppose that might require the other servers to run a stripped-down TFM stand-in, which doesn’t exist atm. i’m trying to consider how we might want to extend broadcasts in the future, like the holiday message integration.

Due to the serious lack of developer availability, I'm trying to move away from TFM where I can, this is one of the areas it made a lot of sense to do so. NM has an integrated system that was functionally more or less identical to TFM's with the ability for it to be cross-network. I'm not sure what you mean by "Holiday message integration" though and AFAIK they're just custom announcements...

@'FT ' that part of my message was mostly because Firefox has integrated HTTPS Everywhere functionality, so it doesn’t like to load insecure pages without user confirmation. if there’s no plans to make use of the site, no problem there.

Yeah so generally on any ATLAS / ATLAS Project site we enable HSTS anyway and have TLS as standard, the only exceptions so far are on the things where TLS just isn't supported or weren't able to be easily done (Like Plan which is on my to-do list for TLS Support).

@'FT ' also what’s up with the full links in chat? we have tf.fo, we could just use it as a redirect like https://tf.fo/conduct.

Because we don't use tf.fo at the moment as anything other than a re-direct for the MC client. We probably could set it up as a link re-direct setup but I also want to move a lot of this stuff to the website when we build it, so haven't really put any effort into any tactical solutions.

@'FT ' or better yet make a click event on the word “here” to go to the short link.

I doubt the NM Announcement system supports that, but will find out.

    @'FT ' p.s. please add SSL to tf.fo

It shouldn't resolve in a web browser at all... It should just take you to the bungee in game... Not sure what there is to put SSL / TLS Against given there is no web server behind it afaik.

Weird, I'm raising this with the plugin dev atm to find out what's going on. Guessing there's a permission node that isn't documented that I should be using rather than the documented one.

As folks continue to get confused by the name, and use the board for literal spam, which is a violation of the forum posting guidance and the community guidelines, I've re-named the board to "Off Topic".

The tag is designed for threads that are generally low quality / drama infused, or for testing formatting and things like that.

The tag shouldn't be used for literal copy paste spam, or anything else that violates the forum posting rules.

I'll be asking the forum mod team to start to more actively enforce the forum posting guidelines in this tag in an effort to reduce the number of 0 quality posts.

Telesphoreo I'm running TrueNAS with ZFS (I believe anyway). It was more of a "Just double check" because I had assumed I could add more disks and that it would be a read / write cache but in my case neither turned out to be true.

I would recommend TrueNAS as a solution generally though, there's a lot of really nifty stuff it can do, even if it's just something to play with once and never use again.

There are some things to be aware of at least from running my own nas.

In a lot of nas software the cache is only a read cache and doesn't help write speeds. Likewise the write cache is usually ram.

Check the software supports expanding the array, some types of arrays and pools don't. Mine for example due to the underlying tech doesn't allow me to add a new disk without destroying the pool and re creating it which isn't a great position to be in.

I've split this thread out because it has nothing to do with the original suspension.

The policy is in place and applies here.

What other people have done in the past is irrelevant.

Stop trying to throw other people under the bus for unrelated things... It's not a good look.

    Locked.

Ivan You're arguing over the details of a policy... I've explained why the policy exists twice now and I have no intention of changing it. It's pretty simple, if you're an admin on here and want to attack another server either don't get caught or don't make it easy for their admin team to come complain to me, because then I have to care and then I will apply sanctions.

Likewise associated or not, we've had more than a few occasions where admins target other servers and then we end up with that server retaliation and attacking us.

Ivan The policy was reviewed and made significantly less restrictive when I took over.

My general rule continues to apply. If you want to go shit on another server make sure the server owner / staff don't come and grass you up. If the eao or more senior has to care then you've fucked up.

The policy does need clarifying because it does apply to MBs and other similar ranks but that is not super clear.

The suspension here is fair, the dude shat in our front yard and didn't do a good job of hiding it.

I think I looked at this a while back as a 10 min job and found tfm required quite a lot of changes at the time to make this work.

I'd so say for future compatability and flexibility building against the upstream api makes a lot more sense than picking a lesser used downstream one. Your numbers I don't doubt but I think you missed the part where any paper server is still using spigot as a base so they are cumulative rather than not.
