Xen No, that is not what I am saying. If our problem is keeping players active because they are getting bored of the freedom server, introducing a generic skyblock server is not the solution. They will most certainly get bored of it quickly (if they haven’t already). I also feel like anarchy would fit well with the theme of the network. This community is notorious for using hacked clients and I assume skyblock will have some sort of restrictions against them, but they would of course be allowed on the anarchy server.

And unfortunately the vast majority of enhancements to the Freedom server requires developer attention, which is out of my control. The Skyblock server already had a proven track record of success and bringing people in. It's about giving people options, if you don't like it, feel free not to play it.

Xen Anarchy was killed (earlier than it was supposed to be) because of the “low-uptake” and I guess someone told you that nobody wanted an anarchy server (which is not true). Even under your feedback thread regarding the anarchy event, many people mentioned having more than one life or disabling the hardcore aspect completely (which would be my suggestion). Hardcore anarchy is for a server that can pull in a ton of players and maintain a constant player count, despite people dying and being banned for it. If we ban people for dying, that just kills the very little player base we have.

There were a lot of posts criticising the Anarchy server, likewise there are posts (Such as your other reply) telling me you don't want generic game-modes, that's why Anarchy has been shelved and isn't going to come back any time soon. We've got other things in the works which the community generally has expressed a greater interest in, and let's us improve the experience for those wanting the creative free-build. As I say, there's no scope for Anarchy for the foreseeable future because we've got higher priority activities taking place and the community has already on other threads said it's not of interest.

The Skyblock server has an active owner that's working on improvements to it, and the only reason it is not more popular already is because TF admins and regulars harassed the original player base. There's nothing to lose from letting Hooke do his thing because frankly it doesn't impact the Freedom server, and gives people options they don't have now. I'd rather people leave Freedom and go play our Skyblock (Generic or not) than leave the network entirely.

Deauthorized Honestly, freedom-01 and anarchy-01 sound like a good combo, the first one being for players who want a more laid back experience and the second one being for the generic 2b2t sweatlords

e: Weekly or biweekly resets for the anarchy-01 server would be a good edition, as to keep the gameplay fresh and the world size low

So this basically describes what TF was back in the early half of the 2010's from my memory. Unfortunately a lot of the community have suggested it's not something they wanted which is why we've prioritised other things, and we also need to be aware that as soon as we start advertising we have anarchy, players will assume the entire network is anarchy which it is not. It's also unlikely we will ever have "True" anarchy (Which is a reason a lot of people objected) because a lot of the behaviour people here wanted was not behaviour I'm willing to have tolerated...

Generally not, occasionally I will especially if during the day / before I went to sleep I was thinking about lucid dreaming, at which point I will pay attention to text in my dreams.

One of the fun facts about dreaming, your brain doesn't care about text, so it'll just throw random words / text where it expects to see it, for example if you had a trash / litter bin that would normally say "Trash" on it, in your dreams the word "Trash" might be replaced with something random, and it'll be random every time you look at it, so if you want to know if you're dreaming, look at a word on a sign, remember what it said, look away, and look back. If it's the same it's real life, if it's changed (And it's not a screen or something like that) it's probably a dream.

Xen Honestly, the anarchy idea was great other than the hardcore aspect. Many people suggested just unbanning everyone and continuing anarchy, but you scrapped the whole thing because you saw it as a failure because no one played on the server. The reality is, everyone was banned and no one COULD play on the server.

The entire point of the Anarchy game-mode was to do something different to Anarchy. Again, people complained when we suggested normal anarchy and complained when we did something different with it.

By your argument anything we do is going to "Get boring" so should we just pack up and shut down now, save ourselves the effort? The point is to give people something different they can play on with friends, and jump between our game-mode offerings.

We killed Anarchy because it was a limited run event... There wasn't community support to continue running it in any format, so we haven't looked to re-launch it, and instead have been focusing on other more important things. It's not to say Anarchy will never come back, but as I said at the time it's not on the roadmap at the moment.

Deauthorized But to add on to this, it would be nice if it didn’t permanently ban you for dying, more like it would just ban you for five minutes before you could respawn. That was the main reason I didn’t try playing due to dying for some bs reason while escaping spawn and not being able to enjoy it.

I agree the game-mode could have been better refined, and know we had some issues on launch which wasn't amazing.

burger It was pretty popular until we announced it joined tf at which point our regulars and admins bullied all the players off it and they never came back. Reality is the freedom game mode gets boring for players and we want other things that will keep people interested while their friends are offline or when they are just fed up of being in a sandbox. This is one of those such game modes.

From the experimentation I've been doing to migrate data from one pool to another in my own NAS it looks like it will only copy files that aren't already there, what I'm not sure on is if it just checks for the name of the file and that's it or if it does anything else, but it didn't move files that it had already copied in my tearing anyway.

Appreciate that's not all you needed to know but hopefully a useful start.

Just a very quick update, thanks to @"Hooke_"#417 performing a reset on the Skyblock server, it's now been fully joined into the TF Network via the bungee. You can now access the Skyblock either via the server selector in the Hub, or using the command /skyblock-01 from anywhere on the network.

Likewise skyblock.play.totalfreedom.me will continue to directly connect players into the skyblock game-mode.

There's still work to be done in bringing the Skyblock up to date, and as always any suggestions can be posted in the appropriate section for Hooke to review.

    Thanks.

I am Neutral here - About 6 or so weeks ago I'd have heavily objected given our previous interactions and behaviour and because certain individuals with or without you knowing tend to insert themselves and ultimately piss me off more defending you than anything you ever did. However, your work historically on the servers development and your interest to continue supporting TF cannot be ignored, though likewise that's not really relevant to an admin application.

While I am still taking some time away, I've spent today and the last few weeks working through some of this anyway, so some updates.

    Plots Server Launch

This has ultimately been reduced in priority, and is likely to end up being something that goes live now in the second half of the year. The MB Team have done a cracking job getting the initial builds ready and in place and my plan is to pick this back up once some of the other actions have been completed.

    Skyblock Reset & Network Integration

This is being worked through by Hooke_ and I'm hoping in the coming weeks we will have an update to the Skyblock integrated into the bungee. We've today managed to identify the issue where players could not connect to the server which is enabling this work to pick up again.

    The 1.18.x Upgrade

For Freedom-01 I don't believe any notable progress has been made. We will look over the coming weeks to uplift the other servers on the network and increase the global minimum version requirement to 1.18, a separate announcement will be posted when dates and times are confirmed.

    Panel Migration

With the exception of the core bungee and our Hub-03 server, everything has now been moved to the Ptero panel. We're not currently planning to move the bungee itself at the current time, and Hub-03 will likely be moved as part of the 1.18 uplift to make things simpler.

    Website Re-Design

We've put some work into making the main website more presentable, but are going to put a hold on it for now pending some other priority tasks that might replace the need to re-design the website.

    Player Retention & Growth

An update from the EMM / ECM has been posted separately.

    World Download Tool Improvements

We've concluded the work on this for the time being, again we might do some future work but for now there's no further improvements planned.

    Designing New Game-Modes

This activity is currently on hold.

    Migration Off Of Flarum

This has taken up the majority of my time recently, we're hoping in the coming weeks to make the jump away from Flarum and over to Woltlab, we're just working through the final teething issues with the importer, and we can then start to look to migrate over. It's likely that the migration will take a day or two overall, and announcements will be posted with more info when we get closer to the date / time of move.

Migrate various aspect of the Freedom Game-Mode to Network Manager

We've not made any notable progress with this, taah has started to work on migrating the permissions / groups management in TFM to hook into Network Manager, but we need to re-visit exactly what we can already migrate across, and what we can unlock and migrate over once the groups setup is moved over.

I'll look to post a new thread in the coming weeks with a plan for what the later half of 2022 holds for us and what our plans are, thank you all for your continued support.

Just on the HP Argument, I will say the one thing I did always like about theirs when I used to sell them was that when you knew you always printed the same amount of pages each month, that ink scheme did work out pretty well. Also though their ink cartridges at the time used to be the only ones that I think included the print head as well which was one of the things that other printers uses to cause to fail a lot of the time and were difficult to replace.

I might be mis-remembering and this was 5+ years ago now so times may have changed.

So I've pulled the latest copy of this forum database and re-ran the importer with various updates / fixes. They've now added support to migrate polls across as well.

I'm just re-setting everything up so there might be a bit of a lag, but if people could do a final review and make sure there's nothing that should be showing up that is wrong, I'd appreciate it.

Deauthorized Possibly... It will depend how I do the move. Given woltlab is a full cms I might move it to be on the main TotalFreedom domain and redirect forum. To woltlab but if we stay on the current domain then I won't be able to make redirects work easily and cleanly unfortunately.

Tizz We would in this case probably change the display name which would mean everything except things like the Master Builder servers (As there are multiple) would just lose the number until more servers have multiple copies.
