So this will be the final update on this now that we're past the first half of the year but wanted to share the progress for transparency.

    Plots Game Mode Launch

This has not quite happened, the reality now is I think we'll end up re-working what I had done on the plots server and re-baselining against a newer version of Minecraft when I come to do it. The work that the MB Team did is still going to be awesome and used as part of this project. This will be one of the activities carried into the priorities for the second half of this year.

    Skyblock Reset & Network Integration

This was done earlier in the year, many thanks to Hooke_ for making this happen. There are still MC Version uplifts we need to do to the Skyblock and it will be one of the priorities for the second half of the year to start updating the underlying version of Minecraft on the Skyblock.

    The 1.18.x Upgrade

This unfortunately has been something we've failed pretty hard at and is going to be one of the major priorities for the rest of the year. I will be sitting down with the game-mode owners and the development team to establish if we want now to skip past 1.18 straight up to 1.19, one that is done with some form of update will be a major priority for the rest of the year.

    Panel Migration

The same update as last time, Hub-03 is still to move across, we hope to get this done in the coming weeks so this will also be carried over as a priority into the rest of the year so we can wrap it up nicely.

    Website Re-Design

This has now been done through the deployment of the Woltlab CMS to replace the forums as well as the website. There's going to be more work to improve this but that will be a continuous improvement rather than specific goals.

    Player Retention & Growth

Updates from the EMM have been posted on this previously, I'm not convinced we made any major improvements, but we also didn't really have a clear outcome for this in terms of a goal throughout the year so I'm closing this one down now that we have some movement, and I think there will be further changes and updates to follow

    World Download Tool Improvements

Already concluded in the last update.

    Designing New Game Modes

This was previously put on hold and is not something that will prove to be a major priority for us throughout the rest of the year, we have one or two additional game modes scoped that we want to develop and that will be more than enough for the time being.

    Migration Off Of Flarum

Complete! We moved earlier this month as you can see and the re-direct from the old domain seems to be working really nicely. We'll continue to improve Woltlab over the rest of the year but we're closing this goal down as a success!

Migrate various aspects of the Freedom Game Mode to Network Manager

This one has slowed down a bit and will be a goal going into the rest of the year. We have moved some permissions and command blocking into Network Manager, and will be looking to move even more over throughout the year as well as hopefully the rank management.

    ---

Hope you found this update useful, I'll be writing a new thread shortly on the plans for the rest of the year so keep your eyes peeled!

As part of an effort to make sure that we're getting better at testing new features before they go onto our production servers, and as we start to look at rolling out additional game modes to the network, I'm looking to stand up a play-test team from across our community. These individuals from across the various ranks of the current community will work with game mode owners, the development team and myself to get early access to and test capability.

If all goes well and we need to grow the team out (Which hopefully we do) a more formal application process will be put in place, but for this initial round, if you're interested just provide the following info on reply to this thread

    Code: Application Template
    IGN:

Potential time per week able to support testing:

(In a couple of sentences max) Why would you like to help test new functionality for TF?:

In terms of what we will need from you is some commitment of time (Probably on average will be half an hour to an hour per week, though worth noting some weeks there will be very little testing, some weeks we will have a lot so just be aware of that) and your willingness to write up findings as instructed.

In return, you get a shiny new forum rank (When I create it), access to our pre-release servers and the ability to play with new shiny stuff before anyone else, as well as the ability to help shape what we're doing with TF.

This is open (And encouraged) of all ranks, and the better coverage we get in terms of staff and regular players the better.

As a note, developers please don't apply, you already should be doing this :P

Any questions just drop me a DM because I'd like the thread to please be left clear for folks to apply if interested.

Denied due to lack of support and the original suggestion looking like a big troll. If people have valid reasons to re-enable with limitations or with native behaviour, please start a new suggestion.

I like the idea but as it's out of support and does not work it's a bit of a no-go

    Approved under https://totalfreedom.atlassian.net/browse/FS-170 already

I'm less convinced by this one, but it seems like there is support for it, so I've raised https://totalfreedom.atlassian.net/browse/FS-447

On the grounds I haven't been able to see any indications this is technically possible, while a good idea I'm going to deny it on the grounds it's not technically viable.

Bump - Is anyone using the plugin? If it's not being used and adding no value then we may as well remove it, but if folks are using it in game then removing it isn't the answer.

Going to mark this as approved as we already have a ticket on the backlog to do an impact assessment into FAWE and if we can switch to it. If we can then I'm keen to do so as it will allow us to add some of the other requested plugins that have dependencies on FAWE, not to mention the performance from what I've seen is substantially better.

https://totalfreedom.atlassian.net/browse/FS-101 is the original ticket, for folks interested.

I'm going to decline this because it wouldn't sit at Freedom server level it would need to sit at the network bungee, and it's been less of an issue recently.

Certainly open to further discussion and I agree to have the capability to enable something like this would be valuable, but we just need to figure out the best way to actually go about it and this suggestion doesn't quite work for how TF is set up and I think we have bigger things to work on now that the raids have concluded for the time being.

I've made an initial change to the display names, but I don't think that'll fix the /<server> stuff. Given people are encouraged to use the compass and it'll require a fair bit more work to change all the server names (and a network-wide outage) I'd prefer not to make that change unless there's a really really good reason for it, but this should make things like /msg a bit cleaner than they were.

Will leave this thread open for further feedback.

So unfortunately I do reluctantly agree with this, though with the intent of either picking something up off the shelf we can use, or writing something new from the ground up.

Guilds have been pretty important to the server, and are something that I would like to keep wherever possible, however, I think we're probably at the point where there is so much bad/useless data in the database that it's not really worth saving.

With that in mind, for the short term (Due to the fact it breaks all the time) I'm going to approve the removal of TFGuilds from the server and the Github project will be archived and no longer updated. Conversations will then start around running something similar but at a bungee level (Potentially as a NetworkManager add-on even) to let us do some cool stuff with Guilds not just on Freedom-01, but on some of the other game modes I'd like to launch in the future.
