I've updated Flarum to the latest version now, and switched the default to the light theme, while installing that plugin.

@videogamesm12#566 Oh that's even worse... Having things in SQL make it easy to query and have on an actual nice looking website. God Damnit. Fine.
But yeah, I still vouch apologies for the slight tangent here to get to the bottom of things.

@Telesphoreo#558 What am I think of then because there's 4 tables in the DB??
Also, if we moved to a DB why didn't this move, this feels like a pretty obvious thing to have moved.
-
@videogamesm12#519 I'm 99% sure there's a table for it in the db... If we're not using it I really have no idea why...

@fleshly#554 BBC Called it an hour or so ago based on something like 98% of the votes being counted and saying it would be impossible for Trump to win that state unless he got votes thrown out or some shit.

During my time as an administrator over the last 8 and a bit years now, I've been proud to make various contributions to help maintain and grow the server. Back towards the start of my time on the server and while I was also co-running CJFreedom, upon new Minecraft releases (Which were surprisingly often back then) I would provide Mark and TotalFreedom as a server with the more up to date enabling TF to update to the latest Minecraft versions without needing to wait for the official server developers to make the update.I was later appointed developer status on TF and started working along side DarthSalamon (Later known as Prozza) and Madgeek to help support the ongoing development of TotalFreedomMod. Some examples of early contributions included the MOTD Messages when the server was in admin mode, Blocking colour codes in tags that were at the time forbidden (Such as &k) and created the setup to automatically tag admins as their ranks on join.
Throughout my time I've made a number of proactive suggestions to try to make improvements to the server that would have been beyond my remit as a developer at the times.
In more recent time I originally created the ran the official discord server which has proved to be a key medium of communication and helped the server to grow, it's also been absolutely critical more recently when we lost all of our standard communication routes, but due to having discord available, we were able to re-build fairly rapidly.
I have also acted as the temporary server host both throughout this current loss of an ownership, and again also previously when Windows went AWOL and the server went down. While this time there have proved to be some complexity issues compared to last time, we did manage to restore the full server file set. As an extra to my role as the temporary server host, on this occasion I've setup the service on the website to allow people to download the worlds that we've previously hosted which was especially critical while we were running a temporary server (Source).
I am sure there are very possibly other things worthy of mention, but these felt like some of the key major ones, and without admin on the legacy Proboards forums it's tricky to find all my old posts and threads

Initially my primary focus would be around working with the current developers on getting the server up to date and running smoothly. A key improvement I would like to see made is bringing the SMP server back into a bungee configuration and to look to bring that to be a fully integrated part of the server. I believe ensuring that the main server setup is reliable, well tested and stable makes it considerably more attractive for players, and makes the work of those who advertise the server considerably easier. For me as well I would look to bring TF into my current company and running the server as one of the projects within the estate, this partially mitigates the issues of having a single person running everything, which I appreciate is currently very appealing at the moment. This would also enable the server to gain expertise from our staff team, and for our staff team to be able to work closely with the existing executives to gain skills and knowledge from them around managing a community such as TF.

Yes, understood.Note -
While I appreciate I've not been all that active in the community especially during Seth's ownership but as you've seen I've come back to host the server, and have kept an eye on things running while I've been absent from the server. I hope that in the last 8 years I've been able to prove my commitment to this community and hope that if you let me take this server into it's next era that you'll be sure not to regret it

I have no idea why we don't already have this? And aren't punishments stored in the TFM DB? So it should just be an SQL query and displaying it in a nice way?
-
This is something we've floated for a few years, but ultimately you just end up almost doing a pseudo moderator role by the time you actually make something that works for everyone.
I agree with Steven though, we should be looking for ways to open up freedom's to everyone rather than a few people, I'm not sure what things like the current WE limits are, but given we have ASyncWorldEdit I'd hope they'd be pretty high now anyway.
Things like Sand and water and such are always interesting, I think Water and such is fine because we stop it from actually running, but not sure if we can either offer much smaller limits on specific blocks for things like sand, or stop it moving somehow as well, I'm not sure. Would be something that we should certainly look into though I think rather than segregating the OPS into two groups.

@Captainclimber#363 It's not inherently a problem, it's something I think would enhance the player experience, and I think would fix some of the other things that I think may be an issue (But can't prove because I've not dug into it enough yet).
And yes, moving spawn in flatlands is great, but there are never any large spawns put in that actually give players to do, and they tend to look shite after about an hour of being there and never moved... I just think having "Proper" and much larger overworld maps where players that are like me and like to be more social and nosey around, can do that without either exploring a flatlands that looks like it's been attacked 24/7...
I do also more generally think that we should be aware of what we're running on the server, and I'd personally be supportive of semi-regular resets on the flatlands world as well, but ultimately less so bothered on that and is out of scope of this suggestion.
-
@Xen#347 Yeah, I think they're hoping to get a good idea today because some of the swing states have already been counting. But yeah I'm not sure exactly when they'll formally announce it, guessing as you say it'll be a couple of days.
-
@fionn#338 Think the BBC are running coverage of it from 11PM IIRC
-
@fssp#323 I think it depends on the complexity of what's being proposed... I'm all for less policies as long as we don't just end up with 1 2000 page long policy that is "The Server".
In this case I do sort of agree that if we're going to have a scenario to address this, we need something fairly detailed and robust because there are genuine legal implications of what happens here... That's something we really have to be aware of... I'm not really sure how this specific scenario fits in with other polices we already have in place?
-
@Xen#317 It'll be interesting, I intend on being asleep as it's all being announced (Yay UK) but it'll be fun to wake up to at least 😂
-
I personally agree, we should have as few policies as realistically possible, and it sounds as if these two things should be the same anyway... If it can't be summed up in the conduct policy, it probably shouldn't exist imo
-
@fssp#321 I stand corrected, everywhere I've looked we advertise ourselves either as "FreeOP" or "Other".
I do stand by the rest of the argument that we're not JUST a creative server, and we should be able to accommodate that. I'm personally all for treating this more like a sandbox server again, but appreciate that's not what the majority of people want, and I think that wouldn't be a wise idea myself, but having somewhere players have something to do beyond building and that actually looks presentable feels like something we really should be striving for if we want to try to continue to grow... How many servers do you realistically join where their main spawn looks like shit nearly all the time?
-
@videogamesm12#326 The entire server crashes multiple times a day trying to load the worlds into memory... That feels like a reasonable reason to re-evaluate a decision we made as I understand purely by technical reasons and not because it was really asked for..?
-
I must confess that personally I'm not a fan of it, it doesn't feel anywhere near done, and while it's okay for free opensource software, I personally think there are a number of much better and more mature products out there like Discourse which is rather similar.
When it comes to forums my personal preference tends to be WoltLab now, it was always very similar to Xenforo but was substantially cheaper (Not sure if it's still the case) but yeah, I'm not a fan of software that requires you to go to the trouble of adding 200 add-on modules for basic functionality, and many of those add-on modules not being reliably supported by anyone other than random community members, which for a lot of the "core" functionality here it seems to be from what I've seen...
-
Apparently the polling yesterday suggested it was a 90% chance of Biden winning, but then again the same polls reckoned the same odds on Clinton last time so who knows...
I know Trump wants to either win by a mile (Which is won't (by a mile I mean)) or for it to be so close he can take it to court and spend months in courts trying to get votes for Biden thrown out for various reasons. That's what was being reported here yesterday at least.

@Telesphoreo#299 I think on this rarest of occasions I might genuinely be innocent. You can blame me for the dark theme and permissions scheme, but I think StevenNL2000 was responsible for making the tags look pretty
