So we won't re-enable the native core protect commands, because it will require us to try to maintain a custom variant of core protect, which is not something we want to do.

Given CoreProtect does have an API and we're storing in MySQL anyway, I will approve this suggestion but only if we implement this functionality as part of TFM and are not using the native /co command.

I will also ask that we have a cool down on the command / interface which should be able to be configured as part of config, as I believe the fact /co I doesn't have a cool down / queue logic seemed to be what caused us issues at the start.

Declined, user has been unable to follow the forum posting guidelines and as a result has now been suspended for 48 hours.

They may appeal this ban no earlier than 7 days from now.

@DragonSlayer2189#1806 I'll look to re-word and re-work that part. In short if you're in server chat the servers rules should be being followed but using that as an excuse to DM advertise for example isn't going to be taken well.

@Tozzit#1789 What? You arent hosting the discord guild, and protecting you from what exactly? How are you gonna get sued because people talk bad about your company?? A company not allowing people criticizing itself is frankly a new one for me. id argue the rule ruins the reputation of the company more than anyone on the discord could, atleast for me.

Sorry, that was poor wording on my part, the hosting and managing side of things was more around the server generally. My issue is not with criticism / similar, it's with content or activity which would ultimately or could ultimately cause us to suffer losses as a company. I am happy to re-word things to hide that rule away like you'll find on just about every other discord guild, but I was keen to be transparent with the reasoning behind the rules rather than adding a catch-all at the end which most discord guilds and other communities tend to have...

@Tozzit#1789 To be honest im not exactly sure how to put what im trying to say into words but i want people to still be able to post to stuff like their personal project but not excessively, i want people to be able to post links where they wont have to worry about being banned for advertisement and only people that have intent to advertise will be banned.

The issue comes with defining "have intent to advertise" because that's something I toyed with as well, and couldn't find a good way to word it without it ultimately still being very subjective... I think the way I had hoped the rule was worded was to make clear that if you're advertising something that we feel is competing with TF or could take our player base, that's an office which could result in a ban, but if you're posting a link to music, GitHub, websites and all these other general things then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I'm happy to tweak the wording but I'm struggling to find a good way to word it if I'm honest.

So on these forums an op cannot post an indefinite ban request without a moderator approving it. I reviewed the one earlier and it looked like it had all the information to make it valid so allowed the post.

If an op has all the information required somehow to make the initial request then I don't have any issue with them filing them subject to forum moderation so. It doesn't end up as a mess or bitching drama fest.

I think as part of Steven's role he presumably does some basic check to make sure the username and ip requested match?

I'm not fussed myself either way on if we allow or don't allow it, this feels like it has the potential to make admins lives easier?

Co was blocked due to a vulnerability that was raised, and as we are no longer in a position to easily or want to maintain a custom fork of CoreProtect, I think we will now likely block /co for OP's going forward unfortunately, as maintaining a fork of CoreProtect just for the sake of enabling this is not really a sustainable option imho

So in the interests of this being something the community have been asking for and it's something that I've not had a chance to pull together properly yet, I wanted to make this thread in an effort to explain where I'm at, how I see myself running the server for those who haven't already seen my ownership application. This will probably be a long thread so feel free to jump to the headers that interest you!

    My Ownership Style

So this is something I've had a lot of questions about, and while this obviously can't possible to cover every possible scenario and all that good stuff, but hopefully this gives you a taste.

To start with, I want to make clear that I'm not Seth, Windows, Mark or anyone else. I will absolutely have my own way of running things and handling things, and ultimately that's something I really hope you had all expected.

There are going to be things with TF that I want to formalise and run more like a business compared to how the server has previously been ran, in part that's because it's what I feel comfortable with, but I think some level of order and being professional is going to be needed in order to present ourselves in a sane way and to grow.

The other key thing that I want to make sure that I cover off is around community engagement and how I am going to handle that going forward. My attitude always has been and continues to be that while community engagement is encouraged and will always be taken into my decision making, however just because there is a community majority on a suggestion / proposal / anything else, does not mean that is the decision I will make, I am happy to take guidance from the community, but will not feel forced down a route if I feel it is not in the best interests of the server.

In the shorter term I'm also keen to interfere as little as possible in the immediate future, to try to understand who is doing what and how it works, however where I need to step in I will, and where I can make improvements I will.

    Updating The Freedom Server

Currently getting the freedom server updated to 1.16.4 is my main priority. We're currently having to run ViaVersion to ensure that we are not losing an audience on the grounds that we're not running the latest version. We've recently lost the previous lead developer, so re-establishing the development team and progressing with the upgrade is taking a lot longer than I had hoped.

    Supporting the SMP Server

The SMP Server is going through the process now to re-launch and my current second priority is to look to support that where I can, at the moment I've delegated this to a chap called James who is part of the ATLAS Leadership team who I've asked to take the lead from an ATLAS perspective on SMP, to work with the SMP owners to get things in line, my home is it won't be long until we can bungee the SMP back into the Freedom server.

    Bungee Setup

One key priority for me is that I'd like for us to enable the hub world properly and transition it to a full hub server which will bridge the freedom and SMP servers, along with potential new game modes in the future. My hope is that once we do bungee things together it should bring a mutual increase in players to both servers.

    The Forums

This is something I'm currently progressing in slow-time. At the current time I've asked some of the ATLAS Team to pull some ideas together for me based on conversations we've had. Flarum isn't a long term sustainable option for the forums, and I think we're currently leaning towards a migration to WoltLab as it's something I already have licensed and the uplift to the latest version should be a fairly cheap cost, and WoltLab from experience is very good from a user and admin perspective however, I want to get an internal call made within ATLAS, and some time put into getting a working prototype / pilot setup to show the community what it will look like.

Other than the stuff above, my priorities are to keep fighting the fires that come up and try to rationalise and improve things where I can.

I also appreciate this isn't a full detailed thing for everything but I wanted to get something out there so there is at least an understanding of what my priorities are and where I see things running but yeah... Hopefully that is helpful.

@Tozzit#1730 Section 1 is a firm requirement, 1A to protect the Discord Guild, and 1B to protect the company which is managing and hosting it. I quite frankly don't want people bringing the company or server into disrepute and ending up with lawsuits or other shit on my hands because someone thought it'd be funny to trick people into things or nonsense like that. I've explained more about 1A in my previous post here, and 1B is there to protect me, my staff and frankly the funding line for this community to continue having servers and such...

2B I'm happy to remove, I think it's there for additional clarity as I suspect very few people read the Discord T&C's fully...

2E - I'll remove the examples entirely because I don't think just changing it to insulting is representative of the intent behind the rule.

2F - Can you give me an example of what you mean? I've tried to word that rule in such a way that unless you're following the server advertising rules in #server-chat - It should be no advertising of any kind where it may take an audience away from TF as a server, so posting links to your personal projects and non-minecraft related stuff, I don't see as any major issue, but posting links to other MC Servers or server addresses are a no-no, but I'm not sure if that's what you were getting at?

    @StevenNL2000#1650 & @neo#1734

While I am a firm advocator for second chances, they can only be issued where we can control our own destiny, and that's to say if people are breaking in this case the Discord T&C's, we are at risk of best case scenario getting a slap on the wrist, but more likely the entire server getting shut down and wiped, and as I understand more recently, the admins of said server also getting banned, along with any servers they also have setup... So If you're going to post content or engage in activities on our discord where you're breaking the T&C's, I don't see there being any reasonable way in which those users can be re-welcomed back to the community when the risk they have then posed to warrant that ban is so great.

I think we as a community are frankly lucky that we've never had a run in because I'm quite sure over the years T&C's of services we use have been broken, and that's something we're very lucky hasn't bitten us.

It's why I've set the burden for infinite bans so high and there are very few reasons you will ever fall into that category, in reality I would be surprised if anyone ever does, but it's either that or adding a "And these are guidelines and the staff can do what they want" clause at the end which I think will piss more people off.

@lyicx#1754 if we choose to move forum can we atleast stick to it and be certain on this choice for good?

Yes, that's why I'm not rushing with anything, and want to have a fully formed plan in my head before doing anything, and ideally getting something to an "Early Pilot" that the community can play around with before any permanent changes are made.

Unfortunately from an admin perspective I don't personally think Flarum is sustainable, it's just so far a very immature product that causes me more headaches to maintain than some of the systems I look after in my day job that are up to 10 years old with hundreds of bespoke components, and that's saying something...

@Miwojedk#1743 To be perfectly honest, the forum move is one of the few things I felt Seth had done right in his time (Well the mandating of it not the execution...). I firmly believe there will always be things that go against public opinion but serve to fit the longer term needs of the server in a much better way, and I think the forums are one of them. I've always been very anti-moving off Proboards, but that's not because pro boards is good (It's really not, there are a whole host of good reasons for us not to go back) but because nobody ever laid out a proper plan for moving elsewhere, and when people rush these things they go to absolute shit.

I will make a more detailed post shortly (Tonight hopefully) and the forums will be covered off in that post, as I appreciate I've spent a lot of my time recently firefighting and not being able to do a lot to improve things!

While this sounds like a good idea these things end in carnage.

I've already said the forums is something I'll tackle and post a more detailed proposal on shortly. Would appreciate it if folks gave me a chance to form that proposal into something meaningful rather than simplifying it to such an extreme of this sort of poll...

Given Telesphoreo has gone out of his way to attempt to hide the evidence posted here by moving Video's DNS endpoint and with his continued poor attitude with regards to transferring what is the current official TotalFreedom Org over to my control this suspension has now been extended to be indefinite with the earliest possible re-instatement to be January 1st 2021.

Telesphoreo has also now been issued with a 14 day suspension from the forums after his response to this thread and compounded by the evidence of breaching forum guidelines in the original post here.

This post is to give notice that Telesphoreo has been suspended with immediate effect and for a minimum suspension period of 2 weeks.

Telesphoreo has been disrespectful towards other administrators on the server, including both peers and those more senior than him, he has been waned on multiple occasions now.

Evidence of why this has come to be is available on the following links:

I will not tolerate bullying / harassment of any kind, and to be aggressive in the server chat is frankly unprofessional and gives the entire admin team a bad name.

As an extension to this, I am hereby rejecting the senior admin application that Telesphoreo has raised, as he will be suspended during it's voting and quite frankly admins that behave like the behaviour in the above screen shots shouldn't be an admin, much less a role model.

While I appreciate all the development time and work Telesphoreo has put into the server before I took over, he's actively ignored my requests to transfer ownership of the TotalFreedomMC organisation on Github despite stepping down, and has undermined my authority now on a number of occasions and I've only been owner for a week.

Telesphoreo may request a re-instatement no sooner than 2 weeks from this notice being posted.

The appeal will not be considered until at least the 14 days are up.

He has an ongoing history of being sanctioned on discord and was given clear instruction his appeal would not be considered before 14 days. The fact the ban is not extended or reset you should think yourself lucky

Locked until the appeal can be considered.
