The e-mail address has now been re-instated and that is how I would like these matters to be handled. A forum ban is intended to remove a user from the forum and to then give them access to anywhere would likely defeat the object of the ban.

While I do appreciate this is a tricky subject, I don't feel moving back to Proboards is at this point a sane / viable option given the state of the forums. I would rather make sure they are properly locked down and archived for future viewing and leave them as they are.

There is work planned for Q1 2021 to move off of Flarum and to something significantly nicer, however that work has not yet started, and I don't yet have a beta / preview to share with you, however when I do and in plenty of time before the actual move I will be sharing details of the beta site for people to go have a play with.

I appreciate this won't please everyone, but I personally feel this is the best course of action for the server as we go forward.

At the moment there is a line in the ownership policy which is as follows:

    Quote

In scenarios 2 and 3, a unanimous vote to remove the owner will need to be collected from the Executive Admin Officer, Security Officer, and Forum Owner/Manager.

In reality this is not really an ideal case, for many reasons. 1 these roles may / may not exist at the time of invocation (As we discovered last time where Seth (and now I) was technically the forum owner / manager) and also because it excludes a number of executives who ultimately should be in a position to have an opinion.

My proposal is to re-word it to the following

    Quote

In scenarios 2 and 3, a unanimous vote to remove the owner will need to be collected from all current full status (Not assistants / similar) executive admins on the server. Executive admin's are defined as per the Executive admin policy found here - https://forum.totalfreedom.me/d/6-executive-policy/

Feels like a sane and minor change to me, but obviously as the owner I'd rather not go changing the policy that can have me removed in case people strongly disagree with this.

As taken from the original thread here - https://forum.totalfreedom.me/…rship-policy-to-allow-ops

The Ownership policy currently doesn't allow for ops to vote.

I propose we make a bot that gets linked to the player's minecraft account. After the account is linked they gain access to the polls subboard. Once they have access they can vote. This removes potential for vote rigging.

If you want to make it extra stern make it so they also need to link their account to a Discord account, however I don't advise this as some players don't use Discord

Given the thread ended up having 2 suggestions in 1 I am going to decline and close this thread, and will split these out into two seperate suggestion threads.

I'm not sure there is a good way to enable OP voting if I'm honest, and I'm not sure that baking the requirements into the owner policy is the best idea rather than updating our application requirements, but feel it makes more sense to discuss these in isolation rather than confusing things here.

The purpose of this thread was to recognise those players according to our metrics who have been exceptionally active in supporting the server.

It was intended as a "Nice thing" but it seems people would rather focus on those who were not recognised, which is fine. I've tried to do this in a way where there is clear data, and where nobody's gonna feel "Missed out" for not being included.

There were a massive amount of people involved in the servers restoration, and to be honest I'd struggle to remember and name every single person that was involved, And likewise with our admins, I'm only personally online for a limited set of timezones and windows, and wouldn't wan to be sat here patting certain admins on the back for doing an outstanding job, while missing a load of admins that do an outstanding job.

I think you've all missed the point of this thread, which is a shame, please don't shit on what's supposed to be a "Well done and thanks for being supportive players of this community" thread with "Why didn't you do XYZ", it's not really fair on anyone.

The main reasons things don't get logged seem to be when someone kicks off a massive rollback (which takes ages due to the amount of blocks and shit design on coreprotect where it won't establish more than one dB connection) and then someone kills the server. This causes the rollback to be half complete a lot of the time with the dB and server out of sync and any block changes that were queued to be written to be lost.

If admins are starting rollback they need to see them through before killing the server or trying to do anything else with coreprotect.

As I've said on every other thread about coreprotect, if someone can give me a viable alternative I'll consider it but nobody seems to be able to give me something that works well and works well at scale.

I've changed this so it will go into effect from the next server re-start.

Worth noting we never forced gamemode so I would not be surprised if this doesn't fix all the issues as I suspect this is something weird happening within TFM and it's world management, but I'm not entirely sure.

I've already done an initial clean-up and probably made available an extra 20-30 plots that are closer to the 0,0 plot on the plotworld which were all empty plots claimed by "Unknown" (Probably from the whole offlinemode --> onlinemode change) so would encourage people to claim those if they want to start building things closer to the spawn or to even move their current plots closer to the spawn plots.

Further cleanup will take place over the coming days and weeks of plots claimed by any player which appears to be empty so please do add a sign or something if you don't want the plot deleted if it's empty.

Just a quick one but something for people to be aware of.

There are a large amount of plots it seems that have been claimed and never built on. I will be starting to go through and delete these to make them re-claimable for new people to claim with immediate effect.

If you have claimed a plot but not had a chance to build on it yet, could I suggest either deleting it yourself (or asking an admin to do so) or if you do still want it in the place that it is for any reason, you put a sign / similar on it to say so.

Any empty plots claimed by "Unknown" will be deleted first, and over the coming weeks other empty plots will then be deleted.

I wanted to do a very quick post to share some statistics with you all which I think deserve to be recognised, these are a list of players who in one way or another have helped contribute to the server, either in their dedication to playing on the server, or through voting or just being generally active.

At the moment there are some perks for being the most active players, and my intention is that as we start to grow we will look to offer additional perks for those who are voting for us a lot, or playing on the server a lot going forward.

I've not included the most active players over the last 30 days because right now that's a bit of a pain for me to work out, but I'm sure they will be published as normal.

Thanks to all our wonderful players, and a special thank you to those of you who have taken things even further to help contribute to the success of the server, your support is greatly appreciated!

So based on the fact nobody else has replied and this has fallen to the bottom of suggestions.

I am approving this suggestion (Isn't it great when you're owner)

However, it will ultimately end up in a somewhat different format and there will be an additional world which will serve as the main "Spawn World" where these sorts of maps can be restored into. The current worlds will all be retained in their current formats and we will encourage building to take place in those worlds rather than the spawn world which will be wiped at little notice and on a somewhat regular basis.

This won't go into place any time soon as there is a lot of other enabling work behind the scenes and there will be some other changes I want to make to the way the current setup runs before this goes into place.

I won't lock this in case anyone else wants to add anything but will mark it approved for transparency purposes.

Just before people start turning this into a drama fest I thought I'd chime in here.

Running a community such as TF (Or any other community for that matter) is damn well demanding and is not easy, it's rather easy from the outside to sit here and go "Well just do "but actually there's a massive amount that goes on behind the scenes to keep the lights on, as I'm re-discovering myself.

It's greatly appreciated that you've transferred the ownership of all the social media accounts, it certainly makes life easier going forward.

I genuinely wish you well, and thank you for all the work you did do for the server, because keeping the server going is not an easy job (And you'll certainly never find many people that acknowledge / thank you for it) so it genuinely is appreciated because without the work you did during your time as owner we probably wouldn't be where we are today.

I'll encourage people here to remember that being an owner is a stressful job and burnout is a real thing so please do keep that in mind...

Apologies for the very short notice.

In around 5-10 mins we're going to perform the 1.16.4 upgrade to the server, we want to make sure this is complete before we go into change freeze as we believe the upgrade should help stabilise some of the issues we've been having.

There are a lot of things that have been done as part of this release and a change log will be posted shortly.

The maintenance may take up to 60 mins to complete during which time the server might re-start a number of times.

    Thanks.

I have been looking into it trying to track down the root cause but have been struggling so far. I need to do some more digging and have a few options that can be explored.
