So there have now been some changes to this.

By default all members no longer need approval to post, however the first 10 posts that anyone makes will need to be approved, and the first 5 threads will be as well. This is to help reduce the amount of spam in general we get.

We will look to tune this number of time, and will be revisited in 72 hours to see if it has the desired affect.

Due to the increased spam and other unpleasant content that has cropped up in the last few hours, we are imposing temporary restrictions on who can create new threads without approval on the forums.

This will hopefully allow the forum staff to keep up with content, and ensure we don't get flooded with hateful comments and threads which will take considerable time to clean up.

For the time being Developers, Admins, Senior Admins, Master Builders and forum staff will be able to create threads without approval, but any other members will require a forum staff member to approve the thread prior to it being posted.

We will re-visit these restrictions in the next 24 hours, as I appreciate it's really not helpful, but was the best I could configure for now.

So given this just escalated to death threats (Might be the first one since taking over as owner) the ATLAS team will pull all the web server access logs and pass them over to local law enforcement along with any other information relating to the accounts.

I am not going to sit and accept death threats from random assholes on the internet who themselves are abusive assholes.

Any more accounts for any more? Making tonight quite interesting, might be the most forum accounts I've banned at once for some time...

@Miwojedk#8895 You might be missing my point. I'm saying with the variables I can use, that's not possible without re-naming the server.

That's the way the private messages are formatted so hopefully you can see the options I have to play with, I can't statically set that to [F1] without it breaking other functionality elsewhere, as I have no way to change that without it changing the server name everywhere, and quite frankly I don't want to do that...

It surprised me but it happens a fair bit when people are in the hubs sending messages and when we had SMP running that would happen a fair bit where someone would move to the SMP server and the other player wouldn't.

Currently the only way to change it is to change the format as you can see there (And it probably makes sense for the receiver not to see their server and the sender not to see their server given they should know what server they're on...).

The options are to customise that message within reason, though I personally think the person who is not "You" should always display what server they are on in the message, or we disable the cross-network messaging entirely which I'd rather not do, but is an option.

Given the nature of this individual, I am going to extend this indefinite ban to now fall into the same categories as our "Unappealable" Discord bans (Section 1) given the user brings the server and ATLAS's reputation into disrepute and the user more importantly broke a number of laws which was the cause of their indef ban, it is clear they know they will get a reaction from these posts and as a result going forward, the user will have no route to appeal and I will ask Steven to ignore future appeals for this user.

While I am a fan generally of second chances, I don't believe this user at any point deserves such a second chance, and I don't believe there will ever be anything they can say to convince me that they deserve my trust in a second chance, much less that of the community.

I appreciate this sets a shit precedent and the community might well shit on me for making this decision, but I feel this is in the best interest of the server going forward. If you feel that passionately about me not doing this, feel free to DM me and make your case, but I can't see you convincing me to give this user a second chance or the ability to have a second chance...

@StevenNL2000#8878 We can't change the source code, and frankly we don't really want to be editing more plugins than we have to... We have enough issues trying to maintain what we have imho.

If we want to implement different functionality then we would have to disable the network manager messages and implement either an alternative plugin which is either something off the shelf or custom.

We do have flexibility in what the messages look like, but I'm somewhat limited to the fields that I can use, and the server name for example has other implications that we just need to be mindful of...

@Miwojedk#8876 The implication is that it would mean the commands would go from /freedom-01 to /f1 etc which is not remotely intuitive.

I'm not against changing the formatting, I'm just trying to highlight the limitations we currently have as a result of the plugin. We can turn off the cross-server messaging entirely if people really don't like it, but it feels useful allowing people to message across servers.

@Miwojedk#8876 To expand, I also don't get why we even have to signify which server the messenger and reciever are on. As far as I know, we don't list all players from across all servers on the same server tab, except for maybe in the hub? So I don't get why we don't simply remove the server-indicator?

No, Tabs are local to the server you are in, so Freedom-01 and Freedom-02 and each Hub all have totally unique tab lists, so it does make some sense to show the servers the players are in, as it wouldn't be obvious that the player isn't on the same server potentially.

@videogamesm12#8861 so fwiw it can log to core protect and does in a vanilla use case.

I already have a ticket on the backlog to start exploring this but it's not been a high priority.
