I'm not convinced there is a bug to fix here based on the conversation that's been had so going to close it as no further action to take, happy to re-visit if this is more of a suggestion than a bug in the future.

It looks like the recent Flarum updates to both the Flarum core and poll plugin has resolved this as I can no longer reproduce this, but we will keep an eye.
-
-
With the changes to the infrastructure which has moved the forums and other supporting infrastructure on to much better kit, this seems to be resolved and the poor forum performance seems to be resolved. Let us know if that changes.
-
Given this seems to have gotten better with the new infrastructure and there is no other info on here, I'm going to close this thread now.
-
Given the lack of senior admin interest, I'm opening this now to all admins.
-
Thanks to the excellent work by Fleek we're going to attempt to re-enable an updated version of TF-Guilds on to the Freedom-01 server shortly, which we believe will fix the performance issues the plugin was causing, that combined with a significant reduction in the data in the plugin due to the clean-up we hope should create a useable and actually good experience for folks on the server.
I think we're still going to look at re-building / re-designing the plugin from the ground up as we need to make some fairly significant re-work to it either way, but at least we should have some functionality available while we do that if all goes well.
-
In addition to the guilds deleted, we've deleted 304 empty ranks from TF-Guilds from any and all guilds, along with an additional 15 ranks from guilds that were deleted above. I'll link CSV's off this thread in the future once I have them uploaded somewhere folks can access.
-
Further to the above, any ranks that have no members, or are associated to the above guilds will also be deleted as there seem to be a lot of ranks that have no members, despite being part of guilds (Though they could have historically been disbanded and the DB not cleaned up).

In order to try to help restore the plugin sooner rather than later, and to prevent this requiring a re-write before we can add it to the server I'm going to be deleting any guilds and associated data that have 0 or 1 person in them. Guilds with more than 1 person won't be impacted, and hopefully this combined with work Fleek is doing to try to put some optimisations in place will help us to re-activate the plugin sooner rather than later while we look in slightly slower time at a ground-up re-write.
-
Just to remind all players (And admins!) that if you find bugs on any of the plugins or on the server as a whole, please report it here on the forums, or in the absence of being able to report here please flag it to an admin and ask them to report it on your behalf.
We've had a few cases recently where the dev team and I have been given a hard time for not fixing bugs that went unreported for an extended amount of time, which ultimately just is not the experience we're looking to create.
You can report bugs here - https://forum.totalfreedom.me/t/bug-reporting
Your cooperation with this is greatly appreciated.
-
Due to a significant issue in the plugin I've temporarily disabled the plugin on Freedom-01. The dev team are now aware of the issue and are looking into the issue.

@Miwojedk#13752 I think the point is if it's well known and a very easy way to crash the server with no way to fix it, then we'd probably rather the command blocked rather than the server spending more time offline than online...
I'd be interested to know if there's a sensible way to modify //count - I think we already have a ticket open to investigate this as it's something I've used a fair bit as a noob builder, and is a fairly basic WorldEdit command that it feels like we should be able to support in some way or another. Likewise it might be worth us giving it another test now that we're on new hardware, might at least make it more tricky to crash.
-
@UnderTails#13686 Out of scope of this conversation for one thing, and has had a number of threads on the matter. Until someone can propose a way to do it that doesn't fuck us over more, it's a non-starter...

@Fleek#13669 (are we using premium AWE on the server?)
I don't believe so. Fairly sure it's the free / os version.
-
@redeastwood#13556 We will be adopting WoltLab as the new forum software as it's proven to be the best fit for the current and projected future needs of the community based off the work I and the team at ATLAS has done to date.
I've split the discussion around if that's the right / wrong call out but wanted to make sure your question was answered here.
-
@Ashaz#13555 There will be no restrictions on who can sign up, it'll be clearly signposted as a technical preview and will be for all members of the community regardless of rank to be able to play with the planned new forum software in advance of us actually configuring it for TF's specific needs.
-
@videogamesm12#13554
@root#13557
My intention will be to keep the community involved throughout, and individuals such as yourselves who are interested will be most welcome to be involved as we progress towards the go-live and at every stage through our plans to move off of the current forum software.
-
@redeastwood#13591 Then so be it, I've made my position clear on this for a number of months. There is no a discussion around what software we're using, the purpose of this thread was to explain how we're getting there.
-
There isn't a discussion here around what software it is.
Unless something major comes out of the early phase testing, woltlab is the forum software we will use.
