↩ elmon well yea they arent manually looking through it but the photos are being scanned
and again, who's to say that cp is the only thing that will get "cross referenced"
the best way to stop abuse of power is to stop the power from being used at all in the first place
ive heard stories from people who know missionaries in China and they have to use vpns and encrypt everything on their computers because china has the power to scan everything on their people's devices
you can call me a conspiracy theorist all you want but you cant deny that governments seem to have an ugly habit of abusing power, and they are completely free from consequence because people will make the same arguments that you do and label anyone who is skeptical of the government a "conspiracy theorist" -
@"SupItsDillon"#49 if you want to make a new thread about it ill answer it there but we are getting complaints of thread hijacking so im gonna stop

sometimes there is a discrepancy between legal and morally correct
i think you know where this is going -
↩ @'SupItsDillon' the fact that you connect the right to privacy to being a conspiracy theorist and anti vax is concerncing
do you seriously not see a problem with the government searching through your photos?
as i said, they may have good intentions but we cannot set a precedent of the government searching your private property with no reason, there's a reason that police have to get warrants to search your property
and you didn't answer my question: would you be fine with the government searching your house everyday? because if you arent doing anything illegal, you should be completely fine with the government knowing your property inside and out, everything you own, where it is, what it is, and why not leak it to the public too so everyone around you knows everything about your property? people have already suggested a national gun registry thats open to the public, it cant be too far away
to quote my man franklin: "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both"
it should be obvious that completely sacrificing your privacy to the government is a shitty idea
sorry for rambley reply -
hmmm so shdwo literally says hes joking...
the fact that people are saying shdwo engaged in "hate speech" is fucking ridiculous
some of yall dont seem to understand that you dont have to believe everything you say in a joke
shdwo was jokingly called a white supremacist and in response he said "i hate blacks" kind of playing into the joke
hes not harassing blacks, hes not hating blacks, hes making a joke and clearly stating that it is a joke
yall seem to think that jokes have to be cleaner than fucking clorox to be permissible spoiler they dont -

↩ @'SupItsDillon' This is the logic you are using: you should be fine with the government searching your entire house every day, because if you don't have anything illegal in your house, you should be fine.
I have no idea how you can justify them doing this knowing that they are scanning through every single photo on your phone. And who's to say that CP is the only thing they will be looking for? The Biden administration has already talked to phone companies about blocking private texts that have vaccine misinformation. What's next? We get a Putin president who censors all private texts about any government opposition? We cannot allow for a precedent to be set of the government routinely searching through private property, no matter how honest the intentions may seem. -
My opinion has changed
Don't get an iPhone, IOS 15 is coming and it's scary.
Apple now will scan all photos on your iCloud for CP, and while this may seem like a good idea, it's not.
It may be justified by "oh it's to catch predators, this is good," but it sets a precedent of Apple looking through your photos.
Who's to say that they won't take this as far as they can? Google admitted to tracking you when you are in incognito, who's to say Apple won't do the same with your photos? Are you really going to trust them to keep their word, because I sure don't.
tl;dr apple is now spying on your photos, dont trust them -

If you find yourself arguing in a huge megathread debate ask yourself:
Is this argument harming discourse on this server?
Am I talking for the benefit of myself over the server?
Am I willing to insult someone to win this argument?
If the answer to these is yes, then step back from the argument. Keeping a united community is more important than your opinion on a skyblock server. I may be guilty of doing the same thing I say not to, we are probably all guilty. But if we all make a conscious effort to keep discussions polite, the server will be better for it. I believe that we as a community can solve this issue, but only if we WORK TOGETHER. -

↩ erin imagine if some super rich mls team gave messi a ridiculous contract, would bring so much business to the suffering american soccer league
although on the other hand it would feel like heresy to bring arguably the greatest soccer player of all time to america
im american and even i know that our soccer league is ass -
our inner machinations remain undetected -
