To be honest, ever since this was posted, Rex has sorta relaxed and appreciated the fact that he’s got an open LBR. I’d go as far as saying there’s been a slight change in his behaviour but this could be due to the open LBR too.

I vouch for 2 months only. That’s it.

    Hi everyone,

It's become obvious to me and various other senior admins over the past few weeks that the level of sanctioning and the manner in which admins are sanctioning are becoming a concern. As a result, our team is suffering a lack of trust within the community. Please note that I don't mean to name and shame here, but rather try to re-establish the trust that was previously here between the community and the admin team.

I'm sure you're all aware that we've recently been having multiple incidents within the community, where members of the community are disagreeing with sanctions. It's okay for them to do this - it's often healthy to criticise. However, it is not okay to sanction for someone questioning an admin's actions, nor in any shape or form is it appropriate to use admin-only commands to annoy a player. There have been multiple cases in the past few weeks where innocent, non-rulebreaking players have been kicked, orbited or smote. I will not tolerate this whatsoever from any admin, no matter the rank or role you play.

There have also been numerous incidents recently, where admins have been imposing heavier sanctions than needed. Incidents that require only a verbal warning through /say are instead being met with 15-30 minute temporary bans. Admins have also been sanctioning other users for trying out commands that are blocked for users. This is not okay either and is really not what I want to see from our team.

Another point I would like to address is grudges. Grudges also seem to be an issue within the team; whether that's holding one against your teammate, or a player. Hold as many as you want, I don't really care, but when you are sanctioning individuals please maintain clear judgement and ensure that you are not letting your emotions or subjective thoughts affect your way of administration.

I will admit to you all, I am guilty of some of the things mentioned here. However, it has come to my realisation that the community no longer trusts us as a team and instead proceeds to mock us. Sanctioning people more isn't going to help, especially when our playercount is dwindling.

If I find that any of you have been issuing sanctions, for the reasons mentioned here, I will sanction you accordingly. Thank you.

This post is more for those in the UK, but if you’re anywhere else your advice is still welcome!

I’m currently studying A Level Compsci, Maths and Chemistry. I aspire to study Software Engineering at University. Here is where my request comes in for advice:

I would like to prove that I am able to simply program, and I want to enhance my personal statement so it proves that I can do well as a software engineer. Would making a portfolio of my projects on a personal domain be worth it? I’ve got a personal domain and it wouldn’t be too much effort - it would also be something I can hand over to people to have a look into.

I really wanna do well for myself and I want to make sure I do things right. Any advice is appreciated!

Disclaimer: I am not writing on behalf of the EAO.

An investigation was conducted regarding the sanctions named by the other players commenting in this thread. This investigation has concluded and the appropriate action was taken against the admin involved.

To clarify exactly what I had looked into:

    - The admin's actions over the last 2-3 weeks

    - Punishments issued over the last 2-3 weeks

    - Specific incidents, such as BlackfishOrca being sanctioned for using fireworks that had little to no effect

I would like to apologise for not responding to a lot of the comments in this thread as the matter did also involve me. I would like to also thank the OPs and admins that contributed to the investigation.

Finally, I would like to just ask that people go easy on all of our admins - there is a human on the other side of the screen and chances are if the admin's newly reinstated they have not adjusted to the new rules. This is the case here, for both the original reporter and the admin involved. If you have a concern, take it up with either the EAO or a Senior Admin.

Currently, if you’re not an MB, you can’t use coreprotect in MBW. This means that admins cannot use coreprotect in cases where it may be needed, such as MBW being breached (this has happened before).

/co i in the MBW should be opened up to everyone, regardless of role, too.

The suggestion is to put in a trial period for admins that have not been in service for more than a year. The ideal trial period would be a month. If this trial period is unsuccessful for the admin reinstating, they will either be retrained or expected to re-apply for admin.

Thoughts? This suggestion is extremely loose and I would like more ideas really, so this is more of an open discussion thread.

I'm not going to extend on this matter much further, but I genuinely think it's a small group of individuals who actually have an issue with this sanction and won't bother following the right protocol to get the right people involved to deal with it. As well as this, this "pathetic" situation (as described by you) is genuinely a case of you as an OP struggling to deal with the current rules we have. In my eyes, you do not reserve the right to criticise an admin as an ex-admin, you only reserve that right as an OP.

Also, in no way did you "call out" the admin team "respectfully":

You classify the actions of Pharma and I as trigger-happy; I classify it as fair. I don't think you've updated yourself on the current rules at all, and frankly since you claim to have been an admin before, I'm surprised you actually got onto the team with the lack of composure you portrayed yesterday in chat.
