RedEastWood You often say you’ll host events, then cancel them

I agree that this has been an issue, especially in recent days. However, for future events, I will ensure I allocate time properly.

RedEastWood You are far too inactive for me to believe that you will actually join the server and host an event

This is another issue that I will be working on, as after tomorrow I will be on school holiday.

Why do you want to be an Event Host?

I currently hold around one year’s worth of experience in this role - this experience is from when I held the position of Event Host on TotalFreedom. I’ve noticed a significant lack of events yet again, and I want to revert that and bring the amount of events back up to a standard we should be meeting. I can’t do this as an OP, nor as an admin, but I can as an event host.

I’ve hosted different kinds of events - from minigames to SMPs. In fact, in March I set up an SMP test event on events-02 and it has remained on that server due to two things:

    • lack of events
    • interest in SMP

A common ideology spread around the topic of events is that the spontaneity of events is what maintains interest. My test events with bedwars and SMP proved this to be true, and so I am willing to run random events once again and official events too as an Event Host.

I’ve got around 2 months school holiday after this week - I’ve got time and I’m willing to put it here to help bring back events to how they were in the past.

I hope that the community and the EMM will allow me to perform this role again. Thank you.

matscalle name 1 thing i did with the moderation i wasn’t able to moderate while wanting to help and being a moderator for the event @lyicx can you back me up here?

On the first day of the event, people were not treating the event nicely and you tried to take over - one way you did this was by putting a vote for the event’s future over the 3 days. Lyicx was the host for that day and wasn’t a fan of it, though.

The event didn’t even last a full day, nevermind reach another. I also remember you causing drama between the two sides.

It was just an event so I don’t want to make it any deeper, but your lack of competence ultimately lead to that event’s failure. You then threw your toys out the pram and blamed me for you missing your birthday party on that day and all. I’m not sure how Tizz is trusting you with events tbh.

Edit: I’m not gonna argue any further with you about this on this thread - if you want we can discuss it in DMs

    Hello.

EDIT: Sorry, I meant reply to the message above with something in a different language.

@' 5 ' are you complaining that we’re relying on people with bad social skills? are the people with access unwilling to help, or are they unavailable or unreliable? or are event hosts scared to ask “could you please do x y and z for the event?”

As of the situation at the moment, I have no clue. Last year the people with server access were Nick, Lyicx and the AECM. Lyicx had Nick as the guy with server access - it was very hard to communicate to Nick as he didn’t try to communicate with us.

The state of the team last year, with its disorganisation, should be a lesson that more organisation is needed within the team

erin I feel instead of fixing the problem by increasing the level of responsibility the role would partake, we should instead improve the communication between the event hosts and those with access to the events server.

    This.

This is the main factor which lead to a lack of events last year.

videogamesm12 Does anybody remember the days when we would have spontaneous events that were hugely successful and would be thought back on for years to come, such as the unofficial anarchy event and the golf events?

I was against this idea at first but I'm all for supporting it... in fact I did spontaneous events like my "test SMP" and "test BedWars" which ended up remaining as gamemodes. I'm pretty sure my random SMP's been running for 3 months now.

Tizz To make it simple, we’re understaffed / the involved people don’t have enough free time to complete the current tasks in a sensible time. This includes Steven, which is part of the reason we haven’t taken the reorganisation of the community management any further as of now.

Adding onto this, it's so hard to actually host events when you're not given server access and have to wait a long time for people to add plugins and other things to the server. It's also not worth the community's certain responses to events, which is what leads to event hosts resigning.

The job is hard to do and not worth it for what it puts you through. It's as simple as that.

i got lyicx to ban him a month ago given that he was voting on ppls stuff (some of the stuff was untrue as well) and was given free parking lmao

    vouch if hes back tho
