↩ @'anemone' I don't really see an issue with the one thread you linked. There are countless threads in off-topic from active staff members which I could describe as less postworthy than that.
I've nothing wrong with any of the posts I've linked - you can find me joking around myself in many of them but the thing that all of these silly forum posts have in common is that the original poster is or was a competent and capable staff member who did their job well in and around the time that they posted it. There's also many posts in here from people who would go on to be staff members in the future, etc.
I don't think silly jokes on the forum makes someone unworthy of moderating the server.
Also fwiw the only thing I'm addressing here is the forum post thing, not the argument that happened earlier. I don't have anything wrong with your other reasoning.

I feel like too much is being thrust into the role of marketing manager.
The initial system at least in my time had the marketing manager in charge of bringing people through the door whilst the community manager kept them from walking out the door.
Then more recently, the marketing manager was assigned to improve player retention as well as market the server, whilst the community managers main role became the management of the events, and the event host team.
And now without a community manager, albeit on an interim basis, we have one executive position covering what, this time last year, two used to cover. Even then, when the change happened in December-ish, it was giving most of the ECM's responsibilities to the EMM. Now all of them have been moved.
Looking forward, I believe we need to look back. Having separate executives for marketing and retention is a better system, mainly due to how it spreads the workload much better than the more recent model. Now, I believe these teams should work closer together than they did before to ensure the best possible player experience to prevent the flaws in this idea such as the EMM caring little for players once they join the server.

I vouch - whilst we currently have a number of people across different timezones none or as active around the server and it's community as video is.
From what I can gather the rest of development is at a complete standstill whilst video has been absolutely instrumental in patching critical and severe exploits related to spawn eggs. Exploits that would not have been a problem were it not for mistakes made during the previous update that, due to the current methodology, have yet to be rectified.

fwiw the server would've crashed more than a hundred times if it were not for the fact that I had to ask Steven to turn off the autorestart script since it was immediately crashing on startup.
That's how severe this situation was, and it would've been solved much quicker had video been entrusted with this access.

Can I suggest that you don't make the bot say a cheesy message each time someone joins? It just feels a little dry and looks quite strange since the bot won't really have any other normal looking conversation.

It's worth noting you didn't entirely go out of your way to target me or anything, you were kinda going at everyone at the time and I happened to be there.
Apology accepted mate, and vouch.

Vouch but preferably not capitalising the word "Founder" as it just looks a little off with it not being a proper noun.
-
Sorted - for future reference for all players, when this happens it can be fixed by a server restart. So if you see this when using worldedit, simply ask a staff member to reboot the server.

↩ Michelangelo I'm pretty sure there's an approved suggestion to give ops to gmsp and I'm quite confident that Video may have actually already coded a way to get around the issues that led to spectator mode being blocked.

This isn't worthy of its own thread, but due to the nature of the offence not being inherently malicious and the honesty displayed by ginlang even when he knew what was coming, he will continue as a hub moderator.

I think this has been spun a little. He wasn't banned out of the blue for changing his profile picture to the companys profile, he had been sanctioned multiple times in recent months on the different platforms for being a bit of a wind-up to say the least. That winding up continued, he pretended to work for atlas as a joke, and here we are now.
I feel this image has went under the radar and has been ignored by everyone who has responded to this thread, even when it was directly addressed to one the topic was changed.
He claimed to work for the company, which I would definitely argue is worthy of a sanction of some sort. And considering Ivan's track record, I'm not surprised that the most severe punishment was given - he had been given chances to wise up in the past and didn't take them. If not for violating the copyright law, which I can sympathise with seems severe, at least under the community guideline "Don't pretend to be something you're not", which would probably go under serial rulebreaking after that.I would personally keep the ban as a regular indefinite from all platforms with the usual chance to appeal like any other.
But yeah, I see this as a completely reasonable ban. Not out of the blue, not just for a profile picture.

Thank you for your service to this community.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - if it wasn't for you pinging me out of the blue for a conversation in the tf discord I would not be where I am today. It was you that motivated me to spend time with this community.
Not only that, but your constant drive and dedication to do the right thing in this community no matter what is beyond admirable.
It's been great serving alongside you, you've been a fantastic person to miss with and this community will miss you. All the best - you'll go far.

I would just like to make note of this post that seems to have got buried in this debate.
Quote↩ videogamesm12 Patched and pushed to the server. This thread can be locked.
I don't entirely think it's worth continuing to go back and forth any longer considering the suggestion has been bona fide accepted.

Due to us now going by the community guidelines, this is already the case. Chat bots are allowed (we currently have two players having made their own playerlist bot) as long as they're not breaking any rules.

Most things related to this server are decided by community vote - and I'd honestly say that when it comes to the addition of new features or whatever, it's accepted or declined based on community vote. That's how the system is already, this wouldn't be a change.
QuoteThis is rather vague. Everyone wants the server to grow. Most suggestions are the community coming up with ways for the server to grow. Many features on the freedom server have came from suggestions and there's plenty more to be added.
Simply asking for just "more items" or "more ways to grow the server" isn't enough - you're effectively suggesting suggestions that way.
QuoteTbh with the current sell mechanic on skyblock this would be a downgrade, since pretty much everything sellable can be sold with a command. If these NPC's go along with that mechanic, they'd never get used, and if they replace it, I don't think it'll improve the experience considering what we currently have.

There is already a Reddit page for the server owned by Ryan iirc. It's dead tho.
