The thing about the "do what I say or leave" strategy is that it doesn't work when you need the developers to help you out. Because we seriously need the developers.

You're dealing with volunteers here, they have no reason to stay and keep helping this server out other than the goodness of their own heart. You are far from in a position to turn around and tell the development team to do what you want them to do or leave, because then they will leave.

Paldiu I’m in charge of you folks

Thing about leadership is, you can't just bark out orders and expect everyone to follow. That's not how any of this works. In situations like this thread you need to work with your team to compromise on the issues they've raised.. not just tell them to shut up or leave.

With that type of attitude you're not gonna be in charge of anything because either your developers are all gonna walk, or you'll lose your position as executive for failing to lead the development of the server properly.

Given the nature of the question and the fact this is GCSE, I've a funny feeling it's actually quite simple. I'm sitting here trying to do all this complex stuff (which clearly isn't working) but I've a feeling now that the answer is quite simple and doable when you know the piece of information critical to solving it.

I quite like it when questions like these pop up - they reward candidates who think outside the box and are able to apply the principles they've learned to scenarios they haven't learned. It's probably a question not much different to ones you've covered in class and are capable of doing, but it's obfuscated a little behind some extra info to make it seem harder.

Which brings me onto my main point.

LightUK 90% of the things school taught me was and is completely useless, like the question above.

This isn't useless, as I've brushed over before, it's encouraging you to think outside the box. In maths the questions can often be.. repetitive, especially if you've done quite a few past papers. They're worded often extremely similarly and it boils down to just repeating the same method you've learned with different numbers.

But every paper usually has one or two questions like this, and my maths teacher would describe them as the questions that separated an A from an A*.

It's encouraging you to think outside the box, approaching the problem from multiple different angles to try and solve it, using the knowledge you've picked up from before.

I can't think of a possible reason why thinking like that isn't extremely useful in the real world.

School put smoke detectors in the bathroom over the weekend once as a safety measure, and before 9am on the first Monday we had a fire drill because people went into the bathrooms to vape as they usually did and set off the fire alarm

Pruning members on a discord server is mainly utilised by discord only communities that want to maximise engagement figures - they don't want to have lots of inactive accounts sitting that make the server appear dead when they're trying to grow.

I think we need to take a step back and realise that we are not that kind of community. We are a Minecraft server with almost 12 years of history to look back on. On plenty of occasions we have people show up and return who haven't been around in months or years, and pruning our discord will just mean we aren't in their server list and they won't remember us again. We'll lose out.

And a more pressing issue is that our discord is not public - I don't think the disboard bot has worked for ages so we've been off that - a link is only available either from a member in the discord or in game, and we have manual verification that is rather strict so even if disboard brought someone they might not get in.

So.. if we pruned members, we would lose members. Sure, the inactive ones, but we'd also lose out on that player who stopped playing months ago, and now won't remember us again when they go through their discord servers, because we booted them out. And the only way for them to join our discord is to join the server, which they won't do because they didn't remember us since we booted them from our discord. I see no upside, either.

You're trying to sell a bicycle to a fish here.

Afraid I'm gonna have to stop yous all here, because voting isn't meant to take place yet. This'll be unlocked on June 3rd.

In the interests of transparency I won't be removing nor discounting any of the votes made thus far, since lots of discussion has went down.

As per this thread, the senior admin application window has now opened and will remain so until Friday 3rd June. Applications will be locked from voting during until this date, after which voting will take place until June 17, results being announced on the 24.

    Good luck to all applicants.

Personally object. However it's nothing too major.

I've seen the improvements in behaviour and I've seen that you've turned a new leaf, however to me anyway the old behaviours are too recent for me to feel you're fully ready yet. You're not doing anything wrong per se, I just feel it's too early.

Just keep up the good work.

Neither will anyone who large parts of the community dislike - even if the reasons for disliking them are irrational, prejudiced and/or based in hate.

This is one of the many problems with this idea.. it'll eventually turn this place into an echo chamber. Players who don't do anything wrong could get a low reputation for silly things. Maybe they have a differing political view to the majority. Or maybe they happened to annoy someone who has a lot of alt accounts and a large friend group who all go and downvote them. And speaking of alts.. what's stopping someone with a NordVPN and TheAltening subscription from increasing their own rep.. or ruining the rep of someone they dislike?

I see this less as giving features to high reputation players, and moreso restricting features from players who are deemed "unliked" by the community. As I said earlier, these reasons don't have to be rational either, since you can just downvote someone for whatever you want.

I could go into further detail, but quite frankly you could just go and find any dystopian piece of media which often showcases the many, many downfalls of a social credit score. And in those situations you can't rig your score with alts.

TotalFreedom (but only if everyone likes you)

This community already has a problem with immediately assuming all new players are nefarious horrible bypassers, shoving it down their throats how you shouldn't grief or you'll get banned before saying another word to them. We're about as welcoming as a shotgun shell to the face.

This just makes that much, much worse. Genuinely an awful suggestion - unless you like the idea of this community never growing because nobody new can establish themselves properly.

@'Ryan' Which as I’ve said elsewhere has been THE NUMBER 1 PRIORITY for TF Development for over a year

This isn't something I'm going at you for by the way, but if it's been the number one priority as set out by you then why hasn't the ELD made any statement or progress on this and seems to be working on other things? Maybe I just didn't look properly but this is the first time I've heard that it's a priority - none of the lead developers updates that I can see mention thinking about this. Nevermind working on it.

I said it at the time it was made, but I'm saying it again - this comment was horribly inappropriate. That's all I'll comment on the matter.

Leave if you want to leave, stay if you want to stay.

Threads like this are little more than attention stunts to try and get sympathy just because a few things haven't gone your way.

I am suspending riawo for violating section 4f of the staff conduct policy by providing operators unauthorised access to admin-only chats.

This suspension comes after an anonymous source contacted Luke with evidence that riawo leaked admin chat to Yurni back in February, who then redistributed it to a group. This evidence was then passed on to the admin officer team.

As a result of her own contribution to this, @Yurni's admin application has been denied immediately, with a minimum reapplication period of 60 days.

For reasons I prefer not to elaborate on, my mental health has taken a severe dip in recent days. I'll still be around on the forum and discord but I will be around much less as I focus on trying to help myself feel better.
