Post edit history

  • So from what I've heard forum mods/execs and certain other ranks can edit posts on the forum.

Now Flarum unfortunately doesn't have an extension for post edits, to look at the history of the edits made in a post. So that means that if anyone wanted to frame someone, it can be very easily done with no trace.

This suggestion calls for this extension to be added:

  • @Ashaz#10091 i mean i vouch if other mods and the likes are the only ones that see it. guess its good for transparency sake on their end.

    i love darth

i fucking put everything into you and you stomped on it.

  • Object, anyone given access to this feature should be responsible enough to not abuse it. (It also tells you who the last person to edit a post is, if you hover over "Edited")

  • Okay so when I was doing my research it never told me that you can see who last edited posts, so I'm fine if people object now (or this could just be locked too ig)

  • @Miwojedk#10141 Flarum's modular nature means that many extensions we rely on could at any given moment stop being updated. If this were to occur, we'd have to either stay on the last known good version where the extension worked or we'd have to find alternatives. The more extensions we add, the more likely we'll run into a scenario like this in the future.

Of course, for the sanity of this community and the folks running sysop, we could just dodge these hoops entirely and use ProBoards or WoltLab instead but oh well.

  • @Miwojedk#10168 not happening in this administration ✨ #ObamaCare

  • Vouch because some forum mod couldn't handle me telling the forum to "fuck themselves" if they vouched on a suggestion and ended up editing my shit

  • @ScubaSteve#10106 Don't worry, theres no such thing as too new to vouch unless you are spamming the forum with bots in order to vouch on things or something.

anyways, vouch i guess, but i am pretty sure we are planning to switch forums soon

  • @Ashaz#10196 I understand your point Ashaz. However, instead of removing the ability for a staff member to abuse.. why aren't we removing the abusing staff member? One ends in a temporary solution until they find another way to abuse.. the other results in permanent restriction

I'm not saying to remove the feature of being able to edit people's posts. I'm saying for a plugin to keep a track of them being edited. Staff members that will abuse their forum mod permissions may or may not get sanctioned for what they do but it is completely irrelevant to this post, this suggestion is to log changes that can be done secretly (or we thought could be done secretly until Lyicx's post).
