Remove Hub Moderators

  • Freedom-01 has been getting raided for multiple weeks now, and the raiders have decided to use the hub to spam everyone's messages in freedom-01. Considering that no one's really in the hub for most of the time, why does the hub moderator role need to exist? Without it, admins can just take on their role and the raids can be dealt with easier and faster.

  • Vouch. The hub doesn’t need its own special cia type task force of mods. It’s the most useless attempt at making us seem like a “big network”. I’d honestly vouch for removing the hub in its entirety.

  • I think hub should be removed entirely. Especially with the fact it's near impossible to get a 'hub mod' on the hub to remove troublemakers when you need them, it should go. Also, hub connects to freedom01 exclusively. Events are so far and between it's pretty pointless to have a hub that connects to one actually active server.

    I Vouch.

  • Vouch, I suggested giving admins hub permissions a long time ago, but my suggestion was denied and hub moderators were created as a solution. Separating permissions hub vs freedom server is only making it easier for people to break rules and get away with it.

I also agree with the idea of getting rid of hub altogether.

  • I vouch.

Just a few moments ago, one of the few Hub Mods went offline and it lead to no one being available to sanction the people in the Hub.

If it will take time to remove this system, I suggest we give all freedom-01 admins the permissions that the Hub Mod rank holds too.

  • We definitely need to simplify the current system, however the hub doesn't have a rank system other than NetworkManager's.

We have no way to sync ranks across the servers until the devs implement the use of NM's API into TFM.

  • Vouch, it may have had a purpose in the past, but it's just a huge inconvenience now. Remove and give regular Mods ability to moderate Hub.

  • Due to lack of TFM support for NM (Which as I've said elsewhere has been THE NUMBER 1 PRIORITY for TF Development for over a year) we couldn't make the ranks aligned even if we wanted to.

  •   RedEastWood Not really a good solution... There's good reason we don't do that currently. I'm personally not happy with us going down that route for a number of reasons, the main one being it opens us up to security issues.

Will pick this topic up again when I'm back, only checking in because of MS Teams messages that I needed to address and wanted to check what else was happening.

This isn't something I'm going at you for by the way, but if it's been the number one priority as set out by you then why hasn't the ELD made any statement or progress on this and seems to be working on other things? Maybe I just didn't look properly but this is the first time I've heard that it's a priority - none of the lead developers updates that I can see mention thinking about this. Nevermind working on it.
