Hier ben ik helemaal mee eens! Vouch!
Плюсую, жалко только тут русских нет. Vouch.
The rules never actually been enforced, it's just a general rule of thumb to not make it difficult to communicate with staff or other players. Since everyone here speaks English that's the general thing that's been gravitated towards, but as long as you can be understood by someone, it's fine.
It's just there to try and make sure nobody is intentionally making life difficult for people. Communicating with each other is completely okay.
Fwiw object since it does have a purpose. Speak with each other all you want, nobody's ever gonna punish you for it.
I Object. Nobody has ever been sanctioned for it sans the "encrypted chat" stuff since it actually made attempting to understand the users impossible but the main problem with that was chat spam.
Ironically, this is the one thing that has gotten better since the classic days of TF. In those days if you said something in a different language, admins could smite you with a special command called /emf, which would rudely tell you to speak English. Nowadays we don't really give a shit.
Object for complete removal, vouch for adjustment of the existing rule.
Object as the rule's worded not to be strict. Common sense and use of direct messages when appropriate will help avoiding issues.
Object, I can't keep asking other staff to translate or use google translate every time someone speaks a different language.
↩ simplynick instead of translating, learn.
I object and I think removing this rule is a bad idea. If someone is saying slurs, promoting Nazi ideology etc. in another language and no staff member online is fluent in their language (i.e. not just using a machine translator as those are inaccurate) they will go unpunished for a while. Instead I think the rule should be changed to "Don't speak in languages the admins don't understand".
↩ @'Бабиджон' yeah because im sure every staff member is willing to become fluent in every language in the case that one person might be saying shit in a language thats not very savory. not practical. my personal experience is that languages are a pain in the ass to get fluently but thats just me
vouch i want to speak braile
I object. The way the rule works is pretty nice - you can still talk your language as long as a staff member can understand it. Maybe we should create a list of languages we can accommodate? After all, languages are beautiful, and I feel that we should decide on which ones we can allow.
Object.
This rule definitely needs to be edited but it has it’s uses and therefore shouldn’t be completely removed.
I don't really have much to add.
Object for complete removal as the rule exists for a (good) reason, Vouch for it to be slightly changed/revamped.
Vouchers (That's vouch in french)
Vouch, shows how much bigotry there is if we can't even let other people speak other languages.
Maybe not remove the rule completely but it needs to be totally revamped.
Phóg mo thóin
I don't think this rule even still exists… It might still be on the legacy guidance for punishments but it's certainly not an active rule afaik…
