Switch to FAWE

    So CoreProtect 21.0 now supports FastAsyncWorldEdit.


    This suggestion calls to do the following:

    • Update CoreProtect to 21.0
    • Get rid of WorldEdit and AsyncWorldEdit and BlocksHub
    • Add FastAsyncWorldEdit

    Note that FAWE supports 1.17.1 and 1.18.2 so it will have no problem running on TF.


    I know this suggestion has been made 600,000 times but it actually works for real now


    If you're not convinced or want to see it in action, you can try it on Plexus. FAWE is on the server and you can see that it works

    Vouch since I'm pretty sure the main barrier to us not using FAWE was the lack of logging to coreprotect.

    Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.

    We probably should make sure there aren't any oversights in the logging process or any exploits to be aware of before switching to FAWE. If this is the case, then I'm going to vouch. AsyncWorldEdit is more of a shithole than an outhouse.

    Were running fawe on the plots server, so with this core protect enhancement it makes that a much better experience.


    Would probably suggest piloting it on that server and as long as nothing major goes wrong I'd roll it out as standard personally but happy for people to disagree.

    If it really works, vouch, we get to keep a plugin instead of three (AsyncWorldEdit hooks up to BlocksHub and WorldEdit).

    I've received reports that FAWE contains multiple crash exploits that would make switching a very dangerous move. We should probably do extensive testing with lots of abuse thrown at it before pushing it to the main freedom server.

    We will at some point drop in fawe to the dev server and see how well it plays out with our current plugin setup

    Going to mark this as approved as we already have a ticket on the backlog to do an impact assessment into FAWE and if we can switch to it. If we can then I'm keen to do so as it will allow us to add some of the other requested plugins that have dependencies on FAWE, not to mention the performance from what I've seen is substantially better.
