↩  root well there are projects currently under development that have Minecraft “java” edition running on a JavaScript engine in a browser but those games have no link to mojang and can only join servers made for these browser game clients. Not to mention that the game versions are very old (you can’t sprint old) and the performance is not that great

↩  burger No link to Mojang? Minecraft used to run in a browser window. It was the most popular way to play the game before there was a capable desktop client and after that people began offering modified (cracked) versions of the game on their own websites.

This wouldn’t be possible anymore. Most modern browsers no longer support Java Applets, or the technology used for Minecraft’s browser experience.

There’s a new classic Minecraft game for the web but it’s not written in Java to my knowledge.

↩  resident_user as in not premium. These clients cannot connect to any premium Minecraft servers (or really any at all) as they do not communicate with mojang to verify account details. They can only connect to servers made for them

Remote Desktop applications tend to not play very well with the way Minecraft hooks into the mouse from what I've noticed.

I'd recommend asking ayunami2000 about online stuff, he has made some interesting things in that area

I made a fork of the before linked 1.5.2 client that lets you (albeit sometimes buggily) join real 1.5.2 servers using a proxy. Me and the dev of the previously linked GitHub page are working on a 1.8.8 version when we get chances to through the new popularity to the client. If anyone wants to help I guess you can contact me on discord (ayunami2000#5250) but really my point is that it could be possible to get this to work.

Protocolsupport I have tried but it doesn't work very well (player movement stops being seen by other players quite often and ghost players appear when the player logs off)

Finally just want to clarify that my fork does not add premium account support (I'd have to add more encryption handling and stuff for that) so you would want to use something like LoginSecurity.
