This is such a useful feature and it sucks it didn’t come sooner. I don’t wear a mask when I go out in public but in school I have to wear one, and usually get yelled at for the second I have to put my mask down to unlock my phone. This is really convenient and glad Apple finally integrated it.
When you install the update you are prompted to enable this feature and recalibrate Face ID. It will still work, mask or not, but apparently you now have to also add glasses

I just have a phone with a fingerprint scanner. Not sure why IPhones don't have in screen scanners yet.
It'll be interesting to see what the security implications actually are of this and the accuracy difference ends up being.
Hopefully NCSC or similar will do some research and figure that out because it'll be interesting how secure this is.
I will say the under screen fingerprint reader is the big thing I missed moving from Android.
This is really cool but I'm too lazy to set it up so I'm not going to be taking advantage of it
Oh boy! Now advertisers can identify me even when I'm wearing a mask to target me with their invasive as fuck advertisements!
