modded gamemode in the network

Fabric only please. Forge sucks.

The main barrier with mods to me is that everyone has to download the same particular mods to play the event.

↩  matscalle But you're not suggesting a modded Freedom server here, and I'm 99% sure we've already declined that suggestion because it's so dev heavy to do, combined with the fact the number of mod variations is so high that to get any playerbase would be near impossible.

Your suggestion here again is really vague, you want "A modded game-mode" but you've not explained the game-mode, why people want to play it and all the things I raised on the SMP thread. I'm happy to give proper thought and consideration to these ideas but I need enough detail to make an actual informed decision, which this current one is lacking.u

↩  videogamesm12 Forge is better (but only because it actually supports pre-1.12 versions and coding your own modloader is a real fucking pain in the ass).
Ignoring all of that though, Fabric is better because it has significantly less technical limitations, isn’t hilariously hardcoded, and you can actually create something without having to redo said thing multiple times.

Also, can you explain in detail, @"matscalle"#342? Your posts (currently) are worded in a way that I can barely understand…

also FreeOP and mods don’t mix well, as far as I’m concerned, there’s no permissions system for mods, and the Dev team likely don’t have the time or resources to work on a mod (something that they’re probably not even familiar with doing) just to make a permissions system that’ll probably break within the first few days of it’s creation.

↩  matscalle As someone who has worked on Minecraft mods before, Fabric is drastically easier to develop for. Developing for Fabric is a breeze compared to the likes of Forge.
