I will bump this rather than approve, but I also am supportive of this idea subject to having some form of "baseline" for how we determine the length of a sanction, and likewise if it's something that the requester of the ban decides or how that works.

If we turn to a system of multiple, longer bans, the requests could work like how Forum Sanction Requests do, unless we get precise guidelines on how to evaluate a ban duration.

I am going to approve this, with the understanding that we now have a ban manager and that for the time being it's going to be a manual process to handle this until appropriate changes are made to TFM to support this properly.
https://totalfreedom.atlassian.net/browse/FS-454 has been raised to update TFM to properly support this.
In terms of guidance, I'd appreciate the communities input in ban lengths they feel is appropriate.
All current indef bans which are not self requests and are not unappealable bans remain as they are, likewise any indef bans which have minimum appeal lengths greater than 6 months from today will expire on the minimum appeal date.
