my day is great. i found out someone probably likes me alot, i stood up to a lecturer that was kinda fucking his job up, got two meal deals and did things with the miss and i cant believe its my birthday tomorrow
Well, I suppose it's good to get it out there.
Although many of you already know, yesterday I was informed by a member of management that the store I am working at will be closing within a few months. My mum has worked there for 19 years, and I've worked there for 2. It's always been a part of my life, while the pay was great and the job was fantastic it was more than that for me, and especially in recent weeks I could safely say that I love my job.
These past few weeks I've been gaining more responsibilities. I am the sole person in charge with the weekly till counts and I've been beginning training on running the store - that is, managing who goes where and when, organising breaks, dealing with customer service issues like refunds, delegating tasks such as cleaning out bins and leaving back left behinds, all while keeping an eye on self scan. It's a responsibility that, while it doesn't come with any change in pay, I loved.
And I can't lie, not only am I devastated that the job I've come to genuinely love is being pulled from my grasp, but I'm also scared that any future job I get won't utilise the skills I've worked for two years to develop. I'm worried that I'll end up at a random petrol station, standing at a till for 8 hours on weekends and serving the local junkies. I'm worried that the leadership skills and confidence I've worked so hard to gain and develop over these past few years are going to go to waste from an employer who just sees student workers as disposable. I'm not saying I expect to walk into a management role, but it's going to be hard to find an employer willing to give any responsibility to a student working only weekends.
So yeah, not doing great. This news all broke yesterday but I'm still.. eh.

i cried in school cos i guess i just got really overwhelmed by someone
they wanted to talk to me after school and i was so nervous all day
a teacher noticed and then i just broke down, its hard to hold stuff in when someone asks you if ur okay
but other than that its so swag
