It seems every time I rejoin the server, I have to disable bending again (probably because of a server restart). If there is a way to make it save the choice (to keep it enabled or disabled), that would be great.

Sounds sane. FS-95 raised to either store this persistently or set it so that it defaults players to off rather than on during a re-start / similar.
