Removal and Retirement of Freedom-02

  • As per the other threads, as part of a review into the infrastructure and deployment of the TF Network, we will be removing Freedom-02 from the TF Network.

This will mean we will no longer have resiliency should Freedom-01 be down for planned maintenance or as a result of an unplanned outage, and will mean we will no longer have a less populated environment to test new TFM releases (Therefore we will go back to release testing on live).

I appreciate a lot of folks will be happy, I personally think it's crap but it seems it's what everyone else wants...

FromTimeToTime it was under-moderated and had low interest

From the time I've become admin until today I did make as good as attempt as any to try and keep it moderated as much as I could but it was difficult and it's obviously not a server where admins can sit in and prevent any rule-breaking, it was rather frequented by those banned from the main freedom server to attempt to grief whatever they could.

  • Along with erin I get sketch when a player has been in f02 for more than like 5 mins so I usually check it

The removal of f02 literally hours after I built a comfy cabin o7

  • @"Ryan"#1 I believe freedom-02 still had its own schematics list, can we have it available on freedom-01 or on the download tool?

  •   Tizz Everything from Freedom-02 will end up being published to the World Download tool in the coming weeks. For now the VM is just powered down, I'll go through and archive it all properly in due course.

  • @'Reperak' I think pyro was referring to times when the server is down for hours at a time, its been this way before and having like 13 people on f02 and staff who were bored was a lot of fun.

  • this need to be removed from the MOTD on F01

A triumphant roar echoes from atop the Seat of the Aspects as Nasz'uro, the Unbound Legact is formed.

  • I think we should still keep a lightweight, secondary server on the shelf to fire up in case of prolonged maintenance on freedom-01

  •   RedEastWood Not exactly, freedom-02 was always online stealing resources from the rest of the network it was hosted on. What I have in mind is an alternative server (or even the whole VM) to start only if the main server stays offline for some reason.

  •   Tizz That was one of the purposes of freedom 2. The community have been against servers which aren't freedom 1 so it means folks will have to sit in the hub for the most part now... It's shit but tis what tis.

I like this concept much better since it would only be one server at a time.
