This has been how procedure always has been, I'm not sure if a post used to exist that outlined this in a policy or not, but it makes sense to limit the ability to Admins only.
Indefinite ban requests are supposed to be for when an Admin feels an OP deserves a punishment that is a step-up from a regular 24-hour ban. OPs frankly do not have access to the same resources that Admins do (Punishment history, admins usually keep tabs on players as that's their job, warnings from other admins, etc.) in order to come to a reasonable conclusion as to whether someone deserves an indefinite ban (in most cases). And if they do, they can always ask an admin to post it for them.
Limit indefinite ban requests to only Admins

Vouch. I'm not saying all OPs are like this, but if all players are able to make indefinite ban requests, I definitely foresee it becoming a way of one-upping each other over petty disputes.

Vouch, 100% agree with Darth

So on these forums an op cannot post an indefinite ban request without a moderator approving it. I reviewed the one earlier and it looked like it had all the information to make it valid so allowed the post.
If an op has all the information required somehow to make the initial request then I don't have any issue with them filing them subject to forum moderation so. It doesn't end up as a mess or bitching drama fest.
I think as part of Steven's role he presumably does some basic check to make sure the username and ip requested match?
I'm not fussed myself either way on if we allow or don't allow it, this feels like it has the potential to make admins lives easier?

As I've stated in another thread, I do not believe it is a good idea to allow OPs to create indefinite ban requests directly because OPs do not have access to all the tools for gathering evidence. Rather, as Elmon says, I think it is better for them to create a normal player report and have an admin create an indefinite ban request based on that report when appropriate.

Not entirely, personally I’m still having to check logs to confirm OPs stories and accounts. If an admin did this already, I wouldn’t have to corroborate it.
So essentially, when an OP makes an indefinite ban request, it’s the same as a player report as in admins still have to stifle through logs to find evidence. -
Vouch. I wonder why this was "allowed" anyways.

Approved. The only modification is the addition of "for admins" in the policy.
