Re-enable armor stand gravity

  • I can't see something like this being approved due to the fact that armor stands already are a massive source of problems without gravity. From watching those anti-p2w people lagging servers they often find themselves using armor strand gravity to cause severe lag.


    Neutral. I'd like to see more vanilla mechanics becoming available in the server but I feel for this one it will be a struggle.

  • @StevenNL2000#19046 from what I've seen, people place armor stands on top of water which has soul sand below it.

  • @StevenNL2000#19046 You can find a couple methods (main one is bouncing them in water) on youtube, I do believe the most effective method for fixing this currently is having gravity for them disabled, but I think that we should have an alternative method for it like limiting the amount of entities that can exist, not be placed exist, in a single chunk ("exist" because methods to bypass placement caps exist) and something like that would also fix the popular minecart lag method.

  • Just to update - I've flagged this with the dev team and asked them to take a look into this and let us know exactly what they think is causing the behaviour

  • I think the reason this was disabled was because people made armor stands that used set motion to launch themselves elsewhere. I remember one in particular that would go up into the air and then explode and drop items on everyone nearby.
